I saw a thread that did this with the Grand Floridian rooms/balconies is there one like this for the polynesian?

touringplans.com has photo's from most resort rooms. Go to Disneyworld, Resorts Home, there is a link. It tells you what wording to use to request the room you want. I think this feature is available to all. (I have a membership. It's the best investment I've made for my trips.) There is also a pretty long thread about how successful their room request service was for people. (They will sent a fax on your behalf to your resort with your requested room info.)
