What kinds of views, besides the woods, are there are VWL? Are there any views of Bay Lake, the pool, anything else???? Are you able to see EWP or the geyser from any of the rooms?

I know you can request certain room numbers, views, etc.... and I know there is no guarantee, but is there a location/room that would be special? We are going for our daughter's 13th birthday next March and I am trying to find out if I can request something to make this trip really memorable for her.

Thanks so much for the info...you all are great!!

Hi, slmjam. My general advice is to request the side with the lake and pool. I say this because the infamous dumpster view, and bus depot view are on the other side (although these views are truly not as bad as many here make them out to be).
I am not sure if the pool view rooms have a view of the lake with the EWP, but there are a few upper floor rooms that do have a lake view through the woods (no view of EWP, other lake).
I'm not sure what size room you are getting, but many of the fifth floor dedicated 2brs have a beautiful vaulted ceiling. Also, make sure to request a room that has an open balcony, as a few have them enclosed.

In my opinion, any stay at VWL/WL will be very memorable for your daughter!

Enjoy the wilderness....

Where is the dumpster view and how many rooms is it visible from?

It really doesn't matter but I would just like to know.

I suppose if you were making a trip there for a special occasion or something it really would be nice to have a view of something else.

It is on the far end from the elevators, on the parking lot side of the resort. It is mostly visible from the upper floors, but unless you look down, you will not see it. It certainly is not the best view at VWL, but it is not as bad (in my opinion) as many make it out to be.

Here is a link with some room reports and it will give you some view comments. http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/wildernesslodge

It has 2 dumsters room noted (so you can gather any floor with that room number will have the view) as well as a no balcony room.

As others have said, asking for a specific room and getting it is slim. This will give you an idea of “sectional views”.

Good luck
Sandy

Thank you all for your replies. This is very helpful.

InstImpres - from looking at the link, it appears a room with a lower number might give us a pretty good chance of a pool or lake view. This is probably a very basic question, but would I request a specific room number or request a pool view (understanding that my request is simply that .... a request and not a guarantee)?

If you ask for a specific room number your chances of getting it are slim. You should ask for a view or section. If on arrival your room number seems like something you may not be happy with, you can ask if other rooms might be available.

Remember, your are at WDW so a "bad room there" is better than a good room any place else in the world.

Enjoy
Sandy

We just returned from a week a VWL. We spent the first night in room 3562- a dedicated studio. It had a great view of the dumpster. I have a picture of the view - if anyone is interested I can email it to you. This was the absolute last room in the long hallway. I realize that even a dumpster view at VWL is better than most other places you can stay, but I do like to spend time sitting on my balcony and really did not like watching the folks hauling garbage and linens around. The rest of the nights we stayed in a dedicated 2 bedroom (saved points on Saturday night by staying in a studio). When I checked out of the studio I asked if it was possible for a view other than the dumpster (if there had not been anything else available, I would have taken it without complaining). The CM was really nice and gave us room 2535. This was a beautiful room overlooking trees. If we looked way to the left we could glimpse the quiet pool. It was also much closer to the elevator.

This was our first stay at VWL and we really enjoyed it. We spent one of our days just doing stuff around the resort - renting bikes, water mice, swimming... My kids really liked the duck races! We especially enjoyed the water mice on Bay Lake and Seven Seas lagoon. Luckily we had great weather while we were there.

nancyj-

I just emailed you. Can you please send me the view you had from 3562. Thank you!!

The idea of getting the dumpster view is less upsetting to me than getting a no-balcony room!!!!! Not that I want the dumpster view, believe me....but it wouldn't ruin my vacation. However, not getting a balcony would totally disappoint me due to the fact that we enjoy spending alot fo time out on the balcony relaxing. I would definitely complain in that case.

Thanx for posting, Spiceycat.
This picture does not tell the whole story. It focuses in on one area, and makes it appear as though all you see is the service area. Actually most of the view is of woods and grasslands. I admit I would rather not have this view, but in my opinion, the picture makes it look worse than it is.

Oh well.

If you are having trouble opening the link, you probably don't have Acrobat Reader on your computer. It is a free download that makes it so it doesn't matter what system (or programs) you may own and allows everyone to read it.

If you are still having trouble, e-mail me and I'll send it as an attachment.

Thanks
Sandy

I have the Acrobat. I can open things on the member website, etc.

Ever since we had a major computer problem DH has it set up so I can't open everything I want to. He's being kind of a stinker about this.

If I login under his password then I could open the link.

I'll open it soon.

If you send it as an e-mail I still will have to check my e-mail under his password if I want to open the attachment.

floridafam, I have the same problem opening the link. spiceycats link does work, so I would suggest that one. I would like to emphasize what I said in my earlier post about the view:

From Maistre Gracey "Thanx for posting, Spiceycat.

I agree, the view is not that bad. I was in 2560 in June and just looked to the right when I was on my balcony. That view was of the Villas and a bit of the Lodge.
