I am staying at the boardwalk next June and I'm wondering what the difference is between a standard view/preferred view? Can you see fireworks from both places? Do all the 2-bdrm villas have a balcony? Please help!

Standard view look out over the entrance and the parking lot. Preferred view is everything else - BWV, main and quiet pools, the lagoon.

yes you can see fireworks from the standard view (on the highest floor only) and the BW view preferred view

all villa have balcony - studios, 1-bed and 2-bed

Just to clarify a bit - not all of the standard view rooms have a good view of the EPCOT fireworks (higher fireworks only). Those closer to the elevators have most of the show at least partially blocked by the BWI/Convention Center wing. We've had the best views when our room was across from the bus stop.

FWIW, most of the standard view rooms will be unavailable this June (2003) due to the rehab project. In fact, it sounds like all of those with a fireworks view will be under rehab scaffolding. You may get an upgrade to preferred view because of that. (Other than very, very rare exceptions, upgrades are not given at DVC resorts. However, because so many BWV standard view rooms are out of service, it is a fairly good bet that you will get one). As spiceycat posted, only the Boardwalk preferred view rooms have a view of the fireworks. Since that is the most frequently requested view, it's unlikely you would get one of those on an upgrade. There are some quiet pool views that also have at least a partial view of the Fantasmic fireworks from MGM.

Good luck! I'm sure you will enjoy your stay no matter what view you may receive.
