What is your opinion on this? I told DH that I want to watch them from there this year. I haven't heard of anyone watching it from there but knew that people had. I'm sure some of you DISers have and wondered what you thought. Let me know. :earsboy:

I've never done it, but I would like to. I bet the view is super from up there!

It's a wonderful place to watch both. However, you must get your seats VERY EARLY... as they are taken quickly!!! :goodvibes

Not hours, but when we've gone it's been full atleast 30-45 minutes before the show starts. I guess it depends on the time.

Where at the Train station do you sit/stand? How far away are you from the actual parade, I love being up front on the curb, but hate fighting the crowds, it got REALLY rough/bad last year especially w/ children so would love to try something new, do you lose that "close up" feeling?

We watched Spectromagic from the train station last year. It was the second showing of the night, so it wasn't too hard to get a good spot close to the rail. We got one about 20 minutes before the show. This was the first week of June.
I'd say you would have to get there a lot earlier for the first showing.

The view was fantastic, because you get to see the parade loop its way around the beginning of Main Street.

I'm sure my son will have homework during our spring break trip. Maybe he can do some it there while we're waiting for the parade to start.

I have two opinions on it.

firstly, I've never seen it where you only have to be there 45 minutes early. NEVER, and I go all of the time! I'm not saying it doesnt happen but maybe it's in slow times and I've never seen it.

I've gone many many times and only had the opportunity once and had to be there 1 1/2 hours early to get the seats.

The cons: Well remember that the lighting on Main St. does not turn off during wishes, and that may take away some of the effect for some. Many like the end of Main St. where the lights are all off.

Even at the train station, as time gets closer, people start crowding around and you dont have the nice quiet little spot you expected. You dont have your own space either. Expect people literally trying to stand beside of you, inches from you, or touching you and it to be like a can of sardines, even in your chair.

Put it this way..........I was on the front row with a seat, and in my camera view are elbows and peoples sides.

It's not a bad spot to watch, but for what you get, and how early you have to get there, basically I feel it's a wasted hour of my vacation that I could be enjoying doing something else.

Does the train circle all the way around, so if you get on the train does it come all the way back to main street? How long before the parade does it stop running? My son is aHUGE train fanatic and we could have one of us wait in the prime spot while the other rode the train with him, just an idea.

My opinion is that the train station is a great viewing location for parades. I did not care for it as a viewing location for wishes. They do not turn the lights off on that end of main street. I found it hard to hear the music. It did make for a quick exit from the park after the show. I much prefer to be closer to the Castle. Then remain there taking in the evening while everyone leaves. Then stroll down an almost empty main street. If you remain long enough you get the kiss goodnight.

I agree with the previous poster, its great for the parade but not for Wishes. I got a chance to see the Xmas parade from the train station and we were there 1 1/2 before time and has the time for the parade drew closer the more people and it got so crowded that they pushed my Mom out of the way, I hadn't noticed because I was taking pictures (or trying to) and when I realized the parade was almost over. I was not a happy camper after that. My poor Mom never got to see the parade. She was a very shy person and would never speak up or be rude to anyone so she just let people step in front of her until she was at the end of the crowd. She's passed away since then and I will never go back to the train station because of that, it was our only "bad" time at WDW. Anyway, its not a good place to see the fireworks because of the lights. HTH

I watched SADCT parade from the train station once and loved it because I could see the characters in the snowglobes at eye level. We got our spots by accident because we were getting off the train and just stayed up there. It was October and the park was not crowded. I would recommend it for parades.
