Viewing fireworks from verandas?

I am looking forward to my first Disney cruise in June and wonder if it is possible (and permitted) to view the Pirate Night fireworks display from my aft-facing balcony? It's such a big, lovely balcony (part covered and part open to the sky) that I would like to take advantage of it. My granddaughter is a tender spirit. While the excitement and ruckus of the deck party will be fun at first, I think the fun will wear off in short order. It would be nice to retire to the cabin, lay back in a lounger with faces to the sky and watch the show with cookies from room service.

Thanks.

I believe they ask people to stay off their balconies and to remove any items from them (towels, etc.)

Thanks dpr. I thought that might be the case.
I'll just time our visit to the deck party so we get the fireworks then we can slip away when she's had enough buccaneering.

I'll go a step further, some rooms receive notes stating that they should refrain from being on the balconies during fireworks. I'm not entirely sure that it can be enforced, but there are rooms they specifically call out. Not sure if there is a list of them on here or not. Someone else may be better able to search for the correct terms.

Many folks have reported watching fireworks from their stateroom verandah, especially on the starboard side....many have reported receiving no warning letter

I wanted to be away from the action as well during the party. We got a spot against the wall by the aquaduck stairs, hung out there until the pirates came and had a great view of the fireworks. The kids sat against the wall while we were waiting and I wasn't worried about losing them in the crowd.

Thanks! I'll keep the aqueduck stairs in mind as my back-up plan if we get a safety warning for our balcony.

We've had balconies on six DCL cruises (every ship except the Dream) and haven't ever received a warning letter.

We've received a letter twice, and didn't twice. I think it depends exactly where your room is located. For our corner aft room on the Dream we did receive a letter, but I don't believe our neighbors who faced completely aft did.

@WanderLit, you haven't stated where on the aft your cabin is. port or starboard, left or right.
The ship does it's best to turn so any wind is coming from the port side over the ship to the starboard side so there is little chance a firework could blow back on to the ship. As did many years ago from past reading.
If your cabin is port side or even in the middle, you would have little opportunity to see the fireworks from your balcony. You would need a starboard side aft cabin at best.

Then it sounds like I'll be out of luck for balcony viewing. I'm in the center aft cabin on the Fantasy #9176 I was hoping the fireworks would be mostly above the ship (part of the balcony appears to be open to the sky with no overhanging balcony above it). It looks like the aquaduck stairs for us.

This video should help you see from the fantasy to the dream where most of the fireworks are in relation to the ship.
This is not to say you won't see any fireworks as the winds may change, but it would seem unlikely.

On our Magic cruise a couple weeks ago for the first time we had a starboard balcony. I really don't like going on the crowded deck so we decide to stay in the room on our balcony and watch the fireworks. We end up having a fantastic view, it was like our own personal show. We were on deck six mid to aft and were never told we couldn't go on our balcony. It made me think that from now on I will always book starboard side.

We've found that deck 13 forward on the starboard side has good views and is away from the crowds.
