Hi everyone. We will be returning to our favorite resort...but this time as DVC members! We have already requested to be on the top floor, but is there a view that is better that we should request also?
I have always thought that a quiet pool view is the best but not many rooms have it when you consider the size of the resort. Granny has a great picture of the VWL that gives you an idea of just how few rooms really have that view. I think it is a good request, but don't be disappointed not to get it. I have stayed there three times and so far am 2 out of 3 on that view and love it.
blossomz...the red roof building is VWL. The green roof is WL. You can see VWL "bend" to the left to create room for the quiet pool. That's the view HBC was talking about.
In case everyone's bored of that picture, here's another one taken from over Bay Lake. In this one, you can see the quiet pool and the small gap in the trees that gives you a glimpse of the lake from those few rooms.
thanks for the tip that the top floor is under the eaves, enclosed balconies, etc
thats what we avoided when staying at the lodge oct 01
do all 1Bs at VWL have 1 balcony which is off the living room area?
none of these 1Bs have a balcony off the bedroom? and all 1B have the 1 balcony? (only 1 studio missing a balcony?)
I thought the eaves sounded kind of nice because they make ceilings vaulted.. is that right? Plus it sounded like being on the top you had a better chance of getting some sort of a nice view.
No way. Keep using the picture. I think it's great and it really does give everyone an excellent perspective of the whole resort. Too many people think that one whole side of the resort faces the quiet pool or is directly on the lake, but your picture clearly shows that it is far from the case.
Enclosed balconies are a mater of individual taste. I think they make the rooms darker, and you have to stand up on the balcony to have any type of view. This doesn't bother DH at all, and he's the one who likes to sit outside and read. You don't have to worry about what you're wearing when you have an enclosed balcony

There's at least one, top floor, 1 BR that has an enclosed balcony off the BR and a regular balcony off the LR. It's a lock off. The great majority of VWL 1 BRs do not have 2 balconies.
How about throwin' in a CD of the music of the Villas at Wilderness Lodge! That should do the trick.
I've created many of these for my DVC buddies here on the DISboards before and I can't stop listening to it myself!
Actually, in part because of the music, we will be stayin' at the VWL in less than a month for the first time! It will be our 2nd official trip 'home'!
