Title says it all. I can get a Standard view for about $200 less (for the whole stay) than a garden view, is the garden view worth it? We never spend much time in the room in Hawaii, we go every year, but this is first time at Aulani. I know in the grand scheme of things $200 isn't much, but trying to do this trip on the cheap because we are also planning WDW 3 months later.

We had a standard view overlooking the convention center. If you sat in the balcony and looked out you saw the island. If you stood and looked down you got to watch them setup for weddings.

I had the standard view last trip that faced the garage. You could barely see the garage though, and you really looked out on the beautiful gardens that lined the pathway into the hotel. I love people watching, so I enjoyed sitting out there watching folks come and go :)

We have had island view, partial ocean view and standard view. The standard view we had was honestly very cool and really unique. We were ground level with a lava rock wall that had a water feature in it and a lovely tropical garden in front of that with blue ginger flowers. It was so private! I loved that some thought had been put into it. The wall itself fenced off the lawn of the convention center. This is how it looked

If I spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the view I would be disappointed with that...however I don't. I prefer to get out of the room where the view is much better anyway

We had the same view this past week. We were in a standard studio, room 567. We did get to see them set up for a wedding, and also watched Secretary of Defense Ash Carter give a speech to Asian defense colleagues, surrounded by secret service and bomb sniffing dogs. Pretty cool!

That being said, we didn't spend much time in the room, much less on the balcony. View was never important to us, so we were fine with this one. If you're concerned, request a higher floor - the higher you are, the better your view will be. We were only two floors up from the lobby.
