Kind of reminds me of skiing. A lot of people are afraid to do it, and they end up missing out on some fantastic views.
I appreciate the picture, and can't wait to see it for myself (just hope I can talk either my DS (10) or my DW (uhm, better not say) to go on with me.

When are you going? I might need company since DW is a big chicken when it comes to thrill rides and I'm not sure if DD9 or DS5 will go with me or not

My DS Video Taped the whole ride on Oct. 18, and got some of the views above! :thumbsup2

Actually, we aren't going until the first week of Dec. - 2007. (in case you were wondering that means 399 days from today!). BUT, if you are going to be there during that time, sure, I would love the company, although I'm thinking I might be able to get my wife on the ride. She actually likes Thunder Mtn, because the train stays near the ground the entire time, and she thinks that EE is the same way. Now, who am I to argue with my wife?

If I am ever brave enough to ride EE there's no way I could take any photos! I'll be holding on for dear life! I love seeing all your pics though. They're great!

just a little side note to everyone who is questioning their ability to get on EE...

it's really not as bad as you may think it is. if you have any doubts, ask to sit up front! I got placed in the 3rd row and the backwards stuff was a piece of cake. yes, you can tell your going backwards, but the backwards 'drop' is SMALL and your back just lays against the back of the car, so it's not bad.. and if you are in the front, then keep in mind the big forwards drop is 80 feet and the train itself is 60 feet, so by the time the back of the car makes it to the top of the hill, you only have 20 feet to go. i barely even noticed that we were droping since it was at a left angle anyway! (and you can notice it in my facial expression on the picture they took!)

this is all my opinion and i realize that everyone's different. But looking at the ride from the outside, and seeing that forward drop is scary. i'll admit, i had 2nd thoughts about going on it and every step i took in line made me more and more scared. but i got in the seat, away we went, and i LOVED IT.

i ended up thinking that BTMR was a lot worse than EE... go figure!

whatever you decide to do, i hope you have fun!

I agree about the drop. I HATE drops - rode ToT twice and won't do it again, can barely take the drop on Splash - but EE is my absolute favorite thrill ride in the parks now. The angle at the end definitely makes it easier to take as you don't get as much of that stomach leap feeling. My moto is always to try everything once. If you don't like it, you never have to do it again, but always try everything once or you never know what you might be missing out on!

Thanks for your post. I've been super excited about EE, but then started reading some posts about how scary it is, and started to psyche myself out a bit. I am gonna brave it!!!

I will have to second that about EE not being that scary - I would definately say to at least try it once and if you don't like it than don't do it again - but I bet you will want to do it again and again. I am on who loves the thrill rides but my DH doesn't so he was a little scared to go the first time but now he loves it (he has ridden it 3 times, I on the other hand have ridden it 10 times) I think because I have been on it so many times I feel comfortable taking pictures because I know what exactly is going to happen. The view is spectacular from the top. And no matter if you are in the front or the back the experience is great, different experience but still great. The drop doesn't seem that bad (not even as bad as the drop in Splash - which is 30 feet shorter) I think because it curves and doesn't got straight down it doesn't feel as bad. The theming is awesome and its a very peaceful ride in the beginning because the scenery is so beautiful.

Hi, Cathryn! Very cool pic! And your son looks JUST like you!! :)

oh, im so glad you're going to give EE a whirl! i really hope you like it, and im sure you will !!! it's a great ride, just sit back, relax (as much as you can) and enjoy the ride! it tells a great story!

Nice Thread- I lucked out today, standing in line at the fast pass spitters this morning a woman asked who wanted two fast passes for 'right now' - I guess two in her party had backed out. So off I went- twice- since I'm the only one in my family who wanted to go. Here are a couple of pictures from my 2nd run- when I was in the first row. Can't remember if I was going forwards or backwards in a few of these :teeth:

I absolutely love the Everest views! They're the best part of the ride (besides the Yeti), IMO. During the summer sometimes the broken tracks were full of wasps though; I have a bee-and-wasp phobia, and since I'll only ride in the front it was quite nerve wracking to sit there for 8 seconds or so with a bunch of wasps flying around. :scared: But being able to see the entire World was really amazing, and worth the few seconds of total terror. :teeth:

This is our view of everest as we ate dinner. I forget the name of the restaurant but it was the place that sells ribs.

yikes! i'm severly allergic to bees and co. so i would of probably started crying out of terror. that's one of my worst nightmares, to be stuck in a place of bees and not being able to escape. SOOO glad that didnt happen while i went on it a week ago!

Also... not sure if anyone knows, but if you go to youtube . com and search under 'making of exedition everest' they have the show that was on some travel or discovery channel a while ago. it's a really neat show and it's in 5 seperate shows. (my guess is that it was about 1/2 hour long. i missed it when it was on tv and it was neat to be able to watch it after i had been in it and be like "ooohhhh so that's how it was done!"

just wanted to share! Keep those everest pics a comin!

I disagree - I got sicker on ride #2, which is the ride I took the pics on. And I think we were like row #4....

When I rode ride #1, in the 2nd to last row - I didnt get sick at all....which made me get back in line and go again, and then get ultra-mega-ill'n.
