My last trip was almost all photography with just a bit of video. I'm not really sure how it'll split this time. On my spring break to to California (non-Disney), I intended to shoot a lot of video and ended up spending 90% of my time taking stills. On my summer trip to Colorado, I ended up spending more time shooting video than I did taking pictures.

I'm prepping for a Disney trip now and I'm not sure what I'll do.

99.9% Photography 0.1% video

Back when DVDr and MiniDV tapes are all the rage I jumped in and loved video. The problem was I was always running into the wall with limited computer processing power and storage. I really enjoyed the video editing process, but I was so frustrated with the time it took to get it the way I wanted. I've all but abandoned video aside from the occasional iPhone video. The only video I've shot at Disney has been WDW MS Electrical Parade. It was more of a way to see what the iPhone could do in terms of video.

I enjoy looking at photos more than I do with video. I am very critical with video and cannot stand jerky motion that is typical with camcorders not on a tripod. I also like how I can sit down at my computer and 10 minutes later have a final image that I'd print and hang on the wall. 10 minutes on the video site I'd still be downloading the video from the tape or memory cards.

Especially at WDW, I still do a lot of video.

WDW is color and magic -- but the experience is also music, ride sounds, boat horns, train whistles, show narratives...

After a decade or two of shooting at WDW, I've started to shoot some videos documenting that particular trip. Like my last trip from 9/4/2011 to 9/9/2011 I only shot about 12 images with my DSLR, the rest of the trip was iPhone stills & videos.

Plus after all those years of taking so many photos at WDW, they all started to look the same. the only exception is when there are new attractions or going with different people.

I'll probably put together a "fusion" video slideshow with video clips mixed in with stills.

I do mostly photography, but I do carry a video camera (and could shoot video on my phone too). I like video for shows some (I'd like to get the Candlelight Processional on video when we go this year), but mostly for people--character interactions, my father being goofy, and sometimes I do little video interviews while we're waiting for fireworks (what did you like best about today? what are you hoping to do tomorrow? that kind of thing...).

Last trip, when we got home I made a DVD of still photos + video clips with Disney music in the background. We always do a scrapbook too, but I think I would make the DVD again. It was great for showing pix to the family and for reliving the trip.
