We checked into SSR yesterday and lucky us...we got a refurbed 2 bedroom in Congress Park! It's so pretty! I took a video of it that I can post on youtube when I get home this weekend. The teal wall in the master bedroom looks great and really makes the high chair rail stand out nicely. The living room sofa is a bit disappointing though. The cushions are very cheap and not comfortable. They feel like cheap stiff foam. Overall the villa feels very bright and cheery and the horse pillows are a cute touch! :thumbsup2

Here's a link to my video tour of the refurb :goodvibes

I also did room tour of BLT..you can see that here...

The sofas are not new, they simply recovered the ones already there.

The cushions are different even if the rest was recovered. I'm sitting on it now and its awful.

DW and I still think that the SSR sofas had a web/fabric supporting the mattress and that the pillows stored in the seat back.

Which resort are we thinking of??? :confused3

I'm familiar with the BCV sofas storing the pillows in the seat back. Have only stayed BLT, BCV, and VGC.

When we were there a month a go they were still doing the refurb in Congress Park and saw the sofas being moved in. They were brand new, at least the ones we saw. Same basic style with the camel back but workers said they were new. Our room had not yet been refurbed but the sofa was more comfortable than is being described here.

Nope, sounds like the ones at BCV. The ones at SSR have always had the memory foam on boards in sections.

I checked earlier this week with my contact there and the sofas were simply recovered. No new sofas during the rehab.

If you look at photos before and after you can see it is same size and shape, just new fabric. In fact I don't think they did a very good job of recovering them. The fabric does not seem to fit tightly.

The couch has always been uncomfortable and the cushions have gotten worse with age.

I was really hoping they would at least do new firmer foam in the cushions. When you sit on them, the cushion slips down inside the couch and the section hits the back of knees and really begins to hurt.

They are not new they were simply recovered. If they had gotten new ones they would be similar to what is being used in BLT and Kidani as that is the newest purchase for sofas. The ones at SSR have always gotten complaints so they would never replace them with the same thing.

As they did at OKW they simply had them recovered. Some due to damage had to be repaired. As to workers saying they are new, that is what they are told to say.

How do you like SSR? There really isn't an appeal to me for us to stay there. I guess its close to Downtown Disney?

My DH loves DDR for one reason - close to golf ...me - okay but I'd rather be in the middle of it all...

I'm glad you're happy with the villa!

I find lots of DVC sofas uncomfortable to sit on.

Boardwalk also has the pillows stored in the couch.
I've been very comfortable on the sofa-beds everywhere except SSR, they are the worst.

My son slept on the pull out at all three resorts last week... he thought SSR was the most comfy, then BLT second and VWL third...the ratings of a 10 year old!

Thanks for posting the video. I think the rehab looks great. I especially like the teal wall in the MB. :goodvibes

It is a very good video, and you sound great! At the end of July we'll be staying at SSR for the first time, so we're interested in seeing the renovations.

Great video!! Love the teal in the master and the "fox and hound" bedspread is much nicer than I had pictured. I just hope they replace the pullout sofa in the studio. That is the worse thing in the world to sleep on !!!
