I bought my DD one for Christmas (at Target) but they didn't have much of a selection of videos. Any suggestions of where I might go (preferably online) that has a good selection at good prices?

bet, I got the black and white one for my son last year, and he loved it. but, when I was considering the upgrade to the color for this year, I noticed that Gameboys started making video cartridges, too. . .the same ones, and more. . .fairly odd parents, rugrats, ninja turtles, lizziemcguire, pokemon, yugioh, etc.

So, I bought him a bunch of video cartridges to go into his gameboy that he already uses, alot.

Just a thought, if you wanted to exchange your present. Toys r us, though, I noticed DID have a really large selection of video now discs/color, and the cartridges (but, in the electronics section).

They are coming out with a new gameboy model in the next several months, I read. I thought it would be here for christmas, but it's not yet. So, if she DOESN'T already have the gameboy, I would consider waiting and see if the new one is coming out soon.

The new gameboy is coming out at the end of this month. You can look at it and preorder it at Wal Mart

Thanks for the info, too!

A lot of the color disks are on E-bay if you can't find them in the store !

Actually, Bet, I appreciate having a fun/helpful thread on which I can post in agreement with Kendra (although not on the quoted comment above ;)). I think after the past 7-10 days, at the least, it's good to get a reminder that there is a person at the other side of the internet connection and not just some anonymous generator of political posts with which I argue. Too often in the heat of a discussion, it's too easy to forget that I may have as much in common with the other person as I do in opposition.

As for the topic of your thread, I don't own a Video Now but have been thinking that may be a good Santa gift for DD. However I may reconsider if a Gameboy would be more versatile. DD loves games on the PC so it might be nice to have something we can take with us for extended car trips... and hopefully another Disney trip next year.

Anyone with a Gameboy, do you think a 3 year old would be able to play games on it? I'm wondering more about the coordination part as I assume there are games for young players. DD is quite comfortable on the PC using the mouse but we don't have any games that require a joystick or other "gaming" hardware.

GameBoy is on my ds's list- anyone have any idea what the price will be?? I didn't see it listed...

The new Nintendo DS is a totally new system and it's priced at about $150. It can be pre-ordered through Walmart and (now that DS isn't looking over my shoulder because I had to ask him what it was called) the games are about 45$ each:earseek: My DS better keep all his P's $Q's in line between noew and Xmas!! I am so sick of buying new systems that don't use the old stuff!! I might by the Color Video Now for my DD. How long are the videos (5 min-30min??) I would hate something that she has to change the thing in every 5 minutes because they'd probably end up all over the place.

LisaZoe, I got my son the gameboy advance too soon. Even the kids' games were too difficult at three or four--however old he was (I don't remember)! He loves that and his gamecube now, though-- too much-- but he's 8. Anyways, I think you may want to look into the Leapster. This we do NOT have, but it's for ages 4 and up, and the buttons are larger, as well as the screen.

Edited to add: About the games: I'm not sure they were too difficult, they were just unclear. We had a Blues Clues game, for instance, that we couldn't even get to the next screen on! And, we had a Sesame Street game that we also didn't know what to do next on.

I remember when my ds was 2, I bought him a PC Teletubbies game. All you could do was move the teletubbies around teletubbie land! At first we thought we couldn't find the next "area". Then, we realized there wasn't a next area. Maybe they weren't too difficult; maybe they were too boring? I don't know. We didn't find the gameboy games for the young kids interesting, at all.
