Hi all. On my trip a couple weeks ago I made sure to try out the new Biometric reader at Magic Kingdom that requires only one finger. This new reader is very fast and easy. According to Today's All Ears newsletter, the readers have now been installed at all the Magic Kingdom turnstyles.

This is not the best video, but you can see it in action (and see how hard it is to put the ticket into the turnstyle while looking at the Camera's LCD display)

Woohoo! That looks much faster! I'm glad they're trying to fix the problem the scanners caused.

I returned from WDW last weekend. The new scanners are EXCELLENT! Just make sure you watch the lights for instructions and only use your pointer finger!

Very cool! Thanks for posting!

It was so frustrating waiting for people who could not figure out the two-finger scanners. This looks nice and easy!

I'm going to give them a try when I go to MK on Thursday - is it sad that I'm excited to try these? Oh well :sunny:

Thanks for posting that!!!

I really hope these work better than the others.

I used them a few times back in May when they were starting to use them, worked great.

JB, nice to see you.

You would not be the only one... I ran right over to the new ones when I was there all excited to try it out :)

Good to see you too Dan

they where there when we went last loads of people had problems using them, i found it easy

That does look like an improvement, but we had finally mastered the other scanners and never had a problem with them.

What is that for???? We never had to do that. I remember last year we went and I put our tickets in and was about to put my finger on the thing and the CM said not to. We had CM tickets, she said we didn't have to use the finger thing.

So what is it for?

I may be wrong and subject to correction ;) but, from what I 'think' I know about them... they seem to be a way to tie a ticket to an individual, ideally to not allow a lost or stolen ticket be used by someone other than the person that first used it to go through the turnstyles.

^^^ oh, ok. (kinda creepy in a way LOL)

Guess thats why CM tickets don't have to do that.

Thanks

:confused3 :wave2: Hi jimmybop I am am leaving in 19 days with my DD 3 for her first trip. Will she use the finger scanner as well as my DW and I?

Can you only use your right index finger? Can you use your left index finger as well?

It shouldn't matter-as long as you are consistent. If the first time you use your ticket you use the left, use the left all day because that is the print the computer tied to your ticket.

I think the two fingered ones were a problem-period. I don't think it was always the guests fault. One fingerprint tied to one ticket is a lot easier. I always wondered if there was something with the hand position that threw it off. Like, if your fingers were perfectly straight at MK in the AM and then you were off center at Epcot later the computer couldn't match it. One finger should make it easier for the positioning to stay the same.

The finger scan is for only Guests with Adult Tickets (ages 10+).

As for CM tickets, it sometimes depends on the Castmember at the turnstyles and what sort of ticket you use. If you have a maingate/silver/purple/etc pass, you will not have to do it when you first enter the park, how ever if you leave and re-enter or go to another park you will have to do this with the ticket they gave you when you entered.

As for which finger, I guess as long as you use the same index finger each time it should not matter.

What is supposed to happen to those of us with "previously used" tickets that registered with the 2-finger scanner (last year)? Do we scan again? Do we have to get new tickets issued?

Thanks in advance - leaving in soon and I'd really like to know before we go.

You should be fine, just walk right up and use the new system with the tickets you have.

I Was Told That The First Time You Use The Single Finger Scan Even If You Have Used Your Tickets Before(2 Finger Scan) It Resets The Biometric Data.
