Found another interesting video of a harbor pilot boarding the Disney Fantasy in 40 Kts of wind (Hurricane Sandy). Really feel for them as they try to get us into ports during rough weather times.

Nothing but admiration for that! It's important to remember that you may have had a great cruise, but somebody, somewhere had a moment like that !

At least he didn’t have a 20 ft or higher climb up the pilot’s ladder. Those can be quite exciting.

Having watched a tireless and endless effort to get us docked into Castaway Cay (successful), I have such respect for these pilots whether a harbor pilot, the ship's captain, or other. It's crazy what they can do.

These guys are a special breed. I worked shoreside support for Shipping for 11 years and now a shipyard, and some of these guys are just down right nuts.

Hey, we were on that cruise. That video was shot Oct 27, 2012. We were in stateroom 10098 and watching the whole thing from our verandah as the Fantasy limped into PC very late that morning after an extremely rough night in Hurricane Sandy.

Actually, it was so bad and frightening that seasick was the least of the problems. I ventured out to check what was happening above us (pool deck). The glass doors were closed but I could see the water blowing out of the pools and coming under the glass doors. YIKES!!!!

But I never smelled puke on deck 10 and that smell I can pick up rapidly. Think of it as that movie where the bus keeps going faster and the actors were hanging on, going through the city. They didn't have time to get car sick. That's how bad it was.
