Video cameras on rides whats the rule?

Just wondering what is the rule when it comes to using video cameras on rides. I want to video my DD durring rides like splash mountain, screaming, GRR, Dumbo etc..etc... Are there any rules saying you can't hold the cameras in your hands and such?

I think it is not encouraged but you can just do it, it's not like there are video police running around confiscating cameras or anything.

A few rides say no cameras like I think buzz and Star Tours. Otherwise I think its ok, but on dark rides no flash or lights, don't use a view screen and please cover the one light with your finger, tape, anything. In the Dark a little light can be very bright and distracting to other riders.

Feel free to record almost everything there with a few exceptions, just do not use any kind of lighting or night vision and Disney doesn't care. The rides you aren't allowed to film are things that are "movies" (tough to be a bug, shrunk the audience, muppet vision, soarin, toy story mania, etc.)

I've videotaped on Matterhorn, California Screamin', Thunder Mountain, and some other outside attractions. Just make sure that you are holding it tight, and have a strap looped around your wrist so you don't lose it & possibly conk someone on the head (for the faster attractions).

I don't think you should video on Grr or on the big drop on Splash as getting your camera wet will screw it up. This I know from experience, We taped the drop on Splash and stayed dry until we turned the little corner and got splashed by the next log!!! Fortunately, when it dried about 1 1/2 hours later it was ok. But we missed some great character interactions and the anxiety of possibly missing the rest of the trip was a drag!

Thanks... Not too worried about water though. I bought a Xacti E1 to use as my "ride camera" and I'll keep the good camera in the hotel room...

I know from experience that you cannot film Rockin Roller Coaster or Dinosaur.

I bought a Fuji waterproof digital camera just for my Disneyland trips It's AWESOME!! I was able to record video and take photos all through out water rides. It's only like $150 and it's nice

I love taking pictures from the rides at DLR. In addition to the shows, they also ask you not to take pics/videos on Tower of Terror. But everything else is fair game.

Wow... Someone dug up this old thread from 2008... Well the E2 worked good on the rides back in 2008. we got the HD version for the 2010 trip Sanyo VPC-WH1 which worked even better but not as comfortable to hold as the trigger grip on the E2.

That's odd they didn't stop me from recording on the Tower of Terror.

I really wish they would be consistent and also announce if you can't record. Don't leave it up to the cast members they have enough to worry about.
