Just wondering how many people bring video cameras into the parks to film the scenery or watch a loved one on a ride or something....Also, if u have a backpack to put it in...are there any rides you would advise not to ride if u have the camera...do these rides provide a place to store your belongings until you exit the ride....I was thinking about like trying to film on a roller coaster such as splash mountain or EE and was wondering if this was allowed and if so has anyone tried it...It would just be a trip for my DGF and I and we would both be going on everything, so if lets say Rockin Roller Coaster is a ride you would say I def shouldnt be trying to hold on to a camera or even have it packed in my bag...I would need to make sure I didnt bring it that day to the park or else I wouldnt be able to even attempt to get on that attraction...

im a camera junkie. I have a very nice video camera and I have a $2,000 digital camera. With that said, I take both in the parks, on ALL rides.

I filmed and shot photos of EE (seperate rides of course). No problems. I dont do any videoing or shooting on RnRc because it's just too dark. You wont get really anything out of it.

I dont think there's ANY rides I wont at least take my camera on. There are some I wont film (either due to safety or by rule) but in those situations there's always a place for my cameras to be stored.

I've brought my bag with a video camera and camera on just about every ride including Rockin' Rollercoaster. Many rides, especially the newer ones, have a place for you to store things on the ride itself. There aren't lockers or somthing similar at each ride. Lately, I've taken on the camera itself. The ability to bypass the bag check saves quite a bit of time.

I'm a crazy video person. I carry the camera everywhere. By balancing it against my shoulder, I've taped my rides on Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Splash Mountain, RRCoaster, Tower of Terror (back in the 90s before video was banned in there), Everest, Test Track, and more. The quality isn't the best, but the audio full of guests' screams makes up for images that might be missed in the darkness.

Anyhow, I've never had that first scratch on the video camera.

I use the mini-digital tapes and have no idea whether the mini-DVDs could withstand the bumping around on these rides and continue recording. It's like jogging with a tape player vs jogging with a CD player.

Long ago when the kids were small we used to take it and film the group waving and all their rear ends. Now that they are grown, and married, we hardly take it with us. Yeah, daughter and her husband still go with us but its such a pain to carry, handle and take time to pose shots that it stays home now and wife and I have digital cameras we snap tons of shots with.

Back in the 80's we had the big camera and now we have the smaller type C style recorder but never take it. No one wants to carry it but I have to admit, when we do, the vidoes are funny and great to watch on a cold, snowy winter day. We've been trying to make our packing as least as possible and the camera, battery and charger is alot of room being taken up, we leave it at home.

I am a video junkie and tape everything. Here's Splash from our camera:

Splash Mountain Video

We carry a backpack for the video and if there is someplace we wouldn't want to leave the camera or carry it (hasn't happened yet!) we'd get a locker for it. Our Disney videos keep us going between our two year trips -- gotta have 'em!

I love taking video, and I always have my camera with me. You never know when you're going to get that next great shot.

I enjoy the process of editing and putting together finished videos almost as much as being at WDW. (almost, but not quite. :thumbsup2 )

I just posted it in another thread, but here it is again-- my video of the Magic Kingdom last year....

I have videos of the other three parks, too, but I haven't had a chance to compress and upload them yet.

As for the original OP's question, I have a small camera (and small camera bag). While on rides, I usually wrap the strap of the bag around my legs. I don't tape on RnRC because it won't come out, but the footwells on the ride are very deep. I just put the strap through my leg and brace the bag between my feet.
