You all seem to have a lot of knowledge on a lot of subjects so I thought I'd ask this question here! LOL

I am in need of a new digital camera. I would also like a new video camera. I have one that works but it is a tad bigger than I care to carry around all day at WDW. It's about 4 years old. I am hoping to find a video camera/still pics digital camera all in one. Do they make sure a thing? If so, can you recommend one? Thanks! princess:

Yeah there are, but most aren't great at one of the sides of the deal.

Video cameras take poor stills. Most still camreas aren't great at video and you need BIG memory cards.

Some of the newer still cameras are said to do OK at video.
The new Canon looks like a good stiull and capable video making camera:

I bought a Sony TRV33 a few months ago. It takes 1 megapixel stills. I have been playing around with it lately. I also have a 3 megapixel Olympus still camera to compare with.

I am planning to take mine to DW in May. I will probably take both, but plan to use a lot of the videocam.

I find that my outdoor pictures come out great from the Sony. However, I would not use it for any indoor shots. Just not enough light.

You are much better off buying your camera and camcorder seperately. You can get a decent miniDV camcorder and a 3+ MP digicam for under $600 combined. If you go looking for a digicam that takes good video or a camcorder that takes good pictures you will be paying big $$ for technology that isn't mature yet.

Also, I have a miniDV camcorder that takes 1 MP stills and the quality was much lower than my old 1.3 MP digicam.

I recently bought a new stuff after hauling my older, and bigger items around WDW. I got the Sony DSC T1 digital camera (5.0 MP and about as thick as a deck of cards), and the Sony DCR PC109 video camera-another smaller model that just came out. Check out cnet for reviews too. I got them both on Ebay for a lot less than what youd pay in a store. Just be sure you check out the seller!

I recommend the canon too. The video can only be played on the computer though. You can't take hour long movies, more like minutes long, but really that is all you need. We tend to watch the smaller snipets more than a long movie. I LOVE the DIGITAL CANON ELPH!!! It's user friendly and small, which makes it real convenient to carry around and be ready to get that magical picture at just the right time. I have one and IMHO it is the best digital camera out there for that price range. (If you want to take longer movies, get at least the 3.2 MP camera, it lets you take movies till the card fills up) It is SUPER reasonable too!!!!

to all for your suggestions. I still haven't made a final decision. I had better hurry. We leave for WDW in three weeks! LOL princess:

Whatever you decide to buy, I'd get it quick because with any new camera, it takes time to figure out how to use it and how to get the best pictures. You're gonna wanna take some pictures and devepol them and see how the look. Too light, too dark, blurry, etc. Once I actually sat down to figure how to use all that my camera offers, my pictures are perfect. I went on a trip though before figuring this out, and I'm so unhappy with the way those turned out. Now all pics look good though!:D
