Hello.

Well for the last few wks while ive been recovering from the surgery i have been watching Disney holiday videos on youtube "Thanks to the recommendation of our lovely dis friends Ian & Suzanne " ...................

Of course now i want my holiday vidoes to look more like those :rotfl2: & would like to capture the smiles and laughter of the water rides and the boys coming down slides and swimming etc!
Dh and myself really dont have much of an idea when it comes to cameras i mean i have a fab digital camera and i couldnt tell you what half the buttons do!!! Its my mission to work them out before this next trip though!

So advice is needed on a waterproof video camera please :)
We would definatly like to be able to takie quite a few hours of film at a time and for it to be able to transfer to DVD without losing picture quality,(I have heard that some down load to youtube brilliant picture wise but not so good to dvd):confused3

We already have a video camera to use which is my mums but we would like our own.

We have seen some really resonable waterproof "under water " cameras and was wondering is it better to get 2 seperate cameras 1.for water & and 1.for more general use like filming parades and the boys on non water rides.

Thanks so much for any help as it will be much appreciated...:flower3:

I don't know much about cameras, but my DBF has bought us 2 cameras for our holiday... a video camera and a waterproof camera. :)

All I know is that they are both high-definition, and the waterproof one can take videos too.

Hope you've been checking out my Disney videos *hint* :rotfl:

We did what you've done - watched Disney videos on Youtube and then decided we wanted to do the same! :thumbsup2

Purchased an underwater Panasonic one a couple of months ago .... Very impressed so far .... not sure of the model number, I'll check ..... In the meantime I can tell u it cost just over £200 and is orange lol

We also have an underwater Panasonic camera - takes superb photos and does video as well - very impressed. Like the previous poster I can't remember the exact model number of the top of my head x

Just checked .... It's a Panasonic HX WA2 ....... Not got round to putting anything on DVD but underwater footage when shown on iPad is amazing

For underwater shots/films, I've got myself a gopro hero 2.
That's the kind of camera people use to shoot sports videos.
It makes pretty good pictures and videos (HD) and it comes with a waterproof case.
lots of fun accessories like a chest harness or a helmet/headband mount

you can get one at best buy in the US for as low as $299

it does not replace a regular camera though. It's only really for those special sports/underwater shots. There is no viewscreen either.

Hi Cindy

I know the videos that you have been watching, particulary Phil, Emma and Bens, that Phil uses a special waterproof case that fits his sony camcorder, so that may be a way to go.

Obvioulsy it will add an additional cost though!

I have a camera for dry use.

I have an underwater digital camera (comes as a digital camera with a hard, sealed, waterproof casing on the outside) which has the usual for a digital camera, video etc which was £40! I can't remember where I got it from now though, I was looking to get a second but couldn't find it again.

Then I bought 2 underwater cameras (film I think, £5) for the kids to use in discovery cove, I might get some more as they're single use.

And we have 5 single use land camera for the kids to use as well, bargain at £1 each! lol

My camera will be attached to me permanently apart from discovery cove when I'll be bringing my underwater digital one :D

we have a Kodak play sport(think that's what its called).HD filmming and great to use

Probably more in his Youtube channel but those are the only 3 I know were taken with the PlaySport. Still waiting for him to upload the parasailing video he took with it last month.

Another thumbs up for the Kodak playsport! I have 2, they've been to Florida in salt water at discovery cove, fallen off a motorbike at 80mph plus and both still work great, and the video quality is good, for the price you can't go wrong!

Thanks

The film clips look brilliant really helps to see what the actual outcome of the camera will be like! I kicking myself for not getting a waterproof one sooner as i wold have loved to catch the boys faces on the family raft etc :)

bumping this thread for 2 reason

1st : reality check, lol, you got me thinking about wearing that go pro around the parks, lol. I'll keep mine for more "extreme" activities

2nd : I gave in and ordered a Playsport zx5 through amazon.fr (worked 30€ less than other sites)
And if I'm bumping this thread it's because something really made me smile this morning when I unpacked my video camera.

Look on the front side, left of the lens, and look at what it says ...

(for those who don't have one, here's a pic)

wasn't that camera definitely made for us ? :rotfl2:
