Anyone care to share their opinions on this restaurant? I am not sure my husband will like it, but we have made reservations for april. Is the food really weird?

It's not weird, just different than the usual run-of-the-mill kind of stuff you would get from chain restaurants. My husband and I went in early February, our second time in 8 years, and loved it just as much as we did the first time. If you'd like, I could type out our menu for you. As long as you are adventurous and like to try new foods, you'll have a great time. And make sure you get the Kona Chocolate Souffle for dessert!

Not weird at all--just "presented" differently!! It's an elegant, 2 and a half hour dining experience with all the trimmings.
If DH would be happier at an Outback Steakhouse--don't take him to V&A. But if a dinner to remember is what you are after, then by all means go!!

My husband and I love V&A. We go every year for our anniversary. The food is always wonderful, never had anything I didn't like. I never thought I would try some of the things I have tried, but it's fun. And don't be turned off by the small portions. People we've taken with us are always like, this is ridiculously small; but by the end of the meal, they were full and satisfied.

here's the thing, I think I know I would like it, but when i mentioned to DH that they have things like duck, pheasant and liver, he said, "well, I won't be eating duck, pheasant or liver-do they have chicken or steak?"
I took him to a very nice restaurant at home once and all he did was complain about how they dindn't have anything he liked. He's usually very easy to get along with, but for some reason that night, he was unbearable! I have flashbacks to that night when I think about V&A. He swears he won't be that way, but at 200.00 for a meal, I am nervous.
So, I noticed that some menus do have steak, but with them changing all the time, I know that we will have no idea what is on the menu that night. What's the cancellation policy? could we see what is on the menu that day and change our minds or do they need notice?

You have to cancel at least 24 hours in advance or pay a cancellation fee. I can't tell you what the fee is because I knew I wasn't going to be cancelling! :)

Our main entree choices when we went were the following:

Marcho Farms Veal with Roasted Beet and Veal Cheek "Lasagna"
Colorado Lamb En Croute with Swiss Chard and Butternut Squash
Grilled Prime Filet with a Gorgonzola Potato Crouton and Port Wine Jus
Duet of Australia Kobe Beef and Oxtail Jus - $25.00 upcharge

This was our first course: serrano ham wrapped shrimp - delish

This was our 2nd course I think - crab stuffed squash blossom tempura style - yum-o!

The main course - filet mignon

The cheese course

And dessert - creme brulee

Save your money. Honestly if your husband was like that at a nice restaurant in your home town I guarentee you that V&A is WAY more fancy with WAY more fancy food and he will NOT be happy.

WHY put yourself through the stress and the cash layout and keeping someone who really WANTS to dine there from getting your place?

If he loves steak, here are some GREAT steak places: Le Cellier, Yachtsman's Steakhouse and Shulas. He will be a happy man, your pocket will have more money and there will be peace which is always worth its weight in gold.

V&A's almost always has a filet of some sort as an entree. Then usually one fish, one poultry, and one "other meat" (lamb, etc.) And as noted, the small portions do add up over the evening, especially with wine pairings :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
But as also noted--if DH won't be happywith anything but a 48OZ Porterhouse --don't go to V&A. You saw the picture of the filet posted by scanne--will DH look at that and say "Is that ALL of it"??

V&A is an "atmosphere" place as much as a fine dining spot--I'd let that be a main factor in determining whether or not to go.

My Wife and myself celebrated our 10th anniversary several years ago at WDw. It was the highlight of our trip. What an incredible night we had, the food and service are just fantastic. Every dish we had wasexcellent all the way through to the press pot coffee at the end of the night. We even framed one of our menus when we came home and it's hangin in our Disney room.
