Victoria & Albert-what to wear

I am trying to pack a light/small travel wardrobe and I need something to wear here in Dec. Any ideas?
Those of you who have gone, how strict is their dress code?

For men it is dress pants, dress shoes, sport jacket and tie. For women it is dress pants and blouse, or a skirt/dress. It's pretty formal.

Thank you. First of all I LOVE your avatar! How did you download that? I didn't see a Snow White picture amongst the choices so I had to pick something else(jumping Tigger), I will try and conjure up some silky pantsuit type outfit. I never dress up. I am just going here because my friend wants to. (Well it will also be for my 50th bday-after the fact). We'll be there in Dec.

It's worth the dress up!! I promise! V+A's is the greatest dining experience! As for the avatar, thank you!! I love Snow White too!! I have a huge tattoo actually on my outer upper arm that is a vintage portrait of her. The pic is one I uploaded myself. They didn't have any good Snow White's so I made my own avatar

On men, jacket is required, tie is not. I do not consider it formal at all; generally I see people dressed about the same as what they'd wear to church. My husband never wears a tie here; hates to eat with a tie. I usually wear a skirt and a jacket (it's usually kind of cool in here).
