Yep...that's right..Michael Vick, who was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison for illegal dogfighting, is now back in the NFL and a Philadelphia Eagle.

He signed a two year deal during tonight's pre-season game.

I can't even tell you how disgusted I am that any team, let alone my hometown team, let him play again.

Thoughts?

agreed. i cant believe it. im not a real big football fan, but to think that my hometown team signed him.

Ugh.
I'm glad he didn't sign with the STEELERS ♥

I'm sorry though, I know how you feel.

i started yelling when a heard! which was bad cuz i was driving and listening to the game on the radio, so i looked like a crazy person..lol
i'm just so appalled! ugh!

haha..that's 'cause you have the alleged rapist, so there's no room for a dogfighter. :P

He did NOT rape that girl.:headache:

Ben is not like that. She keeps changing her story and if you got raped, wouldn't you tell someone immediately? I know I would. She's crazy.

That story is full of crap.

Ben's my favorite (is it obvious?). A few years ago when he got into that motorbike accident, i freaked out. XD

it depends. i don't wanna turn this into a rape thread, but some people might be embarrassed by it, like they think they did something wrong and caused it or something. so i can see how she would wait.

i don't know anything about this story though..you know much more than i do..lol i could care less about the steelers..they are on the bottom of my fav football teams list. :goodvibes

Which is why she said "alleged". ;)

Anyway, I'm sick. I don't like pro football but I do pay attention to the eagle because they're my home team, aside from the Giants. (I'm in between the two areas).
I think he deserves to rot and def shouldn't be in the NFL again.

that was exactly what I said when I heard the news.
granted, he's really talented, but after what he did to the dogs, he doesn't deserve a second chance to make millions of dollars.

I read a news report on him after he was sentenced to prison, and he said he really regretted not letting the authorities know what was going on and stopping the dog fighting.

no. he doesn't regret it. if he did, he would have stopped it. he only regrets getting caught.

i wouldn't be suprised if he started dog fighting again.

::yes::
I know people can change, but I don't think he's one of them. He doesn't strike me as someone who is immensely remorseful of his actions. He's only remorseful because he got caught doing those actions.

There are players in the NFL who have beat their wife and children.
There are people in the NFL who have been arrested numerous times for DWI's.

I agree, what Michael Vick did to the dogs is absolutely disghusting, and I hate the man. I am a huge dog lover myself.

BUT.

If he can't play, than neither should the wife beaters and the drunk drivers.

We can't bend the rules just because he tortured and killed man's best friend.

i don't think ANY of those guys should play. if they are caught doing something illegal, they should be kicked out of the nfl..that goes for any professional sport, not just football.

if a kid in high school or college got caught doing something illegal, they'd be kicked off the team permenantly. same should go for the pro's. i think it should be applied more severely for the pro's because they make millions of dollars that I don't think they deserve if they are vile humans.

I couldn't agree more.

But that doesn't happen, unfortunately.

If they can play, than Vick should play.

Like I said, I HATE Vick. Hate what he did. But we have to be fair here.

yeah..i guess... lol

i'm just so shocked that out of allllllll the teams in the nfl..philadelphia decides to sign him on for 2 years. :sad2:

as if we NEED more quarterbacks too..

You're from Jersey. I don't think Philadelphia is your hometown.
Support your true team, the Giants. ;)

No, seriously though, I think the head coach is on something.

Uhm, actually, no. A lot of people who get raped are ashamed/embarrassed by it, so they don't tell anyone. You can't say what you would do unless it's happened to you.

Uhm, yep, then they shouldn't play either. Playing football isn't more important than putting our foot down about abuse.

I can't believe Vick gets to play again. That is just so sad and disgusting.

Let him play. The guy spent 23 months in prison (well, not all, but most). Yeah, I love dogs, but you've got to understand, this guy killed dogs, not people. I know for sure that there are at least two other NFL players that got charged with manslaughter (Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth). I think Stallworth got 6 months of community service and he can still play. Little was able to play also. People are making such a big deal over the Vick problem, and you barely hear anything about Stallworth or others that commited crimes that were on a much bigger scale. Flame me all you want for this, but it's my opinion.

It is still a life. Maybe it's not as "important" as a human life when it comes to the food chain, but it is still a life. Have you seen the dogs? The ones that didn't have to be put down looked like ground hamburger meat!

Secondly, Stallworth is suspended for the whole 09 season. Without pay.

Our judicial system is seriously corrupt. Just because these men paid their time for the crime doesn't mean they served what they deserved. These men should be flipping burgers at McDonald's/BK, not making millions of dollars a year.
