I just got the Bikila's for running - here's my review.
I'm in shape - run 4 miles per day 5 days per week - have been doing this for years, so just to frame it...
I was told to break into them slowly - that's not my style so I just tossed the old running shoes and went to the 5 fingers.
Friction blisters on the achilies where the back of the shoe hits the tendon - these are not comfy - guessing they'll not be an issue after breaking them in.
Minor soreness on the front pads of the foot where you strike - there's no cushion, and the shoes get you to strike the front rather than the heel like you do in a traditional shoe. This was only after the first 2 days and I don't have it today at the start of week 2.
Major soreness of hamstrings the first 3 days. This is gone now, but remember I was already running 20 miles per week so hadn't anticipated it. Really sore going down stairs and getting going in the am. As pp mentions, you're actually using a whole new set of leg muscles then you use now.
They're very comfortable to wear, but feel a bit hot - I'm not sure how this will work in the summer months or for walking disney.
Give the feeling of major efficiency benefits in the stride - you feel so engaged in the step as compared to using running shoes - I think as a runner it will improve my time, and for walking it might make you less tired.
Finally, I ran a marathon in October and ever since have had a nagging soreness on the top of my right foot that I think could be a stress fracture - I feared that it might get worse in the 5 fingers because of more pounding, BUT after a week it's actually better - not nearly as sore. I also had some minor tendon issues that I thought might be Plantar back when training for the marathon last summer - that hasn't resurfaced yet, but it wasn't an issue last year until going longer distances than 4 miles.
There are other versions than the Bikila that are more for hiking and walking - I might try them for WDW, BUT if you do, try them out for a while first.
