I am having a hard time trying to figure out if I want to eat at Via Napoli in Aug. I find that Disney's Italian food is lacking so I always try to avoid. My dad is a food distributor for many Italian restaurants in NJ so I guess my question is should I skip it b/c more than likely I could get better Italian food here in Jersey?

My family ate at Via Napoli last December and liked it. The calamari (appetizer) was excellent and I enjoyed the pizza. The gelato sundae was also really good. However, you indicated that you don't like the Italian food at WDW, so as a frame of reference, we've eaten at Tutto Italia as well and also enjoyed it, but we did not like Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria (at Disneyland). All three are run by the same parent company.

Here are a few photos.

My DS15 ate here with his friends on his recent band trip and he said it was the best pizza he ever had. There were 11 of them, and they ordered three gigantic pizzas....cheese, sausage, and pepperoni. Granted, he's a kid, and we don't get NY pizza here...but all of his friends loved it!!

I thought the food was okay, not great. The place was so noisy that it could have been great food and I still wouldn't be excited to return.

It's the best, most authentic tasting pizza I've ever had!! I've had the proscuitto e melone (canteloupe) pizza twice....it's incredible

DH and I had a pretty good lunch here in Nov. Here are a few pics:

Fritto Misto (This was okay, but not worth its $24 price if paying for it OOP)

Pepperoni pizza (This was really good! :thumbsup2)

On the other hand, the Prosciutto E Melone pizza that we had was for me disappointing. I love prosciutto and melon together and had it many times during my trip to Italy last year. I can’t exactly explain why I didn’t like this pizza…I liked all of its ingredients, but all together they just didn’t seem to work for me. Maybe because it was so hard to cut and eat due to the long, uncut slices of prosciutto.

For dessert I had the Zeppole di Catarina - ricotta cheese fritters with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Sorry I didn't get a picture of this, but it was delicious!

the desserts look really good...don't know what to do. Usually by now (next week I can my ADRs), I have EVERYTHING planned out and I haven't even started this year.

I agree. We had only pizza and it was good...maybe very good, but nowhere near the best I've had. With respect to the noise, it's a large room of hard surfaces so you can''t expect anything else.

I am also from NJ and I agree, you may not find that any WDW italian is comparable. That being said, the brick oven pizza in Via Napoli was pretty good. I will be going back and sticking with the pizza. Other items were not bad but not my favorites. Not sure if they call them zeppolis but for desert we tried them with chocolate sauce and it was very good. not greasy at all. We plan on stopping for mid afternoon break just for the desert and an expresso.

I'm originally from Long Island so believe when I say that I know pizza and I would say that Via Napoli pizza is good but does not compare to my favorite pizzeria in Valley Stream, NY. The zeppoli were amazing, but I have to say that I won't be going back this year. I'd rather get food I don't really get at home unless it's a beyond fabulous version.

Thanks, thats what I was wondering. Maybe we'll have pizza here the night before we leave for Disney lol.

Thanks everyone! I think I might skip this one this year, if we do go in maybe it will just be for dessert and a coffee.

Most enjoy the pizzza and it make a good break in the day,
although the pizza is on the expensive side.

Some variation of this rating would apply to most of the "better" places at WDW. The "lesser" eateries...knock 'em down a grade.

Via Napoli pizza was pretty good. We were pleasantly surprised. We're used to New Haven style pizza, and it came darned close. It won't rival your local Italian spots, but it's good for Florida.

The pizza was decent. Not amazing, but good. Everything else was pretty bad. Would NOT go again for anything other than pizza. My wife took a bite of my chicken parm and asked "you like that?", as if no human being could. Tutto Italia is WAY better.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the pizza sizes. I have a family of 5, kids aged 11, 6, and 4. How much food do I order? How much food is a large? I was thinking a couple of those?
