Via Napoli/Illuminations FP

If we would like to have dinner at Via Napoli, then walk over to the FP viewing area for Illuminations (close to start time), what time would you suggest our ADR to be at? 2 Adults, 2 kids. We are going during a busy week (Jersey Week - on a Wednesday night)

FP says 8:30 for Illuminations

(I know we don't really need the FP, but it's happening, ha).

Not only do you not need a FP+ for Illuminations, I'd actually advise against it. They pack people tight in there, when the entire rest of the World Showcase is open to non-FP+ people. You'll find you get much more space doing non-FP+...you can walk up at 8:55pm and still find a spot. Plus, in our experience, that FP+ area is often downwind, and you'll get smoke/ash blowing back toward you. Don't bother.

Skip the FP and just grab a spot at/near Italy to view IllumiNations.

FP for IllumiNations is as valuable as a FP for Journey Into Imagination With Figment.

That is to say, "Not very."

Ha - ok, ok. Its just that we have CL FPs for this day, and with the removal of the viewing areas, figured it was a good use of that FP. I'm not sure what else it will really be worthwhile at - maybe Figment???? Ha!

Figment is more likely to need one. I've actually seen that line spike to 40+ minutes...it's rare, but it happens. Same with Living with the Land. But yeah, Illuminations is the one and only thing I can think of where I think the FP+ is actually a distinct disadvantage.

I'll climb on the bandwagon - drop the Illuminations FP+. Some of the best viewing of Illuminations can be had at . . . the Italy pavilion. There is zero reason to walk all the way over to the FP+ viewing area for a cruddy view when you have a gorgeous view right at your fingertips!

Agreed about Italy. (Big time!)

However, the reason I said to view "at/near Italy" is that often times Disney will reserve that nice Italy viewing area (near the gondola boats)
for private parties.

Why do you have to book a FP for Illuminations with the CL? I thought you got 6 FP + the nighttime viewing of the show.

The nighttime viewing part of the program is ending mid September.
