I’m currently looking at a 5 night on the Dream in December, and the VGT rate is the same as the Florida resident rate (5C). I understand the cancelation and PIF terms, but other than that, anything else? What would you choose?
In theory, you could get anything all the way up to a 4A, but in practice, it would seem more likely to get a 6B, 6C or 7A. If you don't mind ending up with one of those, you could roll the dice and you could score big.
Disney has been running the ships with slightly fewer guests than normal, which could mean they're likely to sail with a fair number of empty rooms in multiple categories. So the chances of getting a higher-tier room on a GT rate might be higher than usual. Pure guess.
Me, I'd rather get a specific 5C that I know isn't above anything noisy, isn't right outside the elevator lobby, etc. rather than take a risk of getting the worst obstructed view or a room right above a nightclub. But all that said, I don't think there's a verandah room on the ship we'd be truly unhappy to get. They're all OK by us.
Yes, it's under the pool deck and Cabanas. Some staterooms are louder than others, though- some are under the salon, which is quieter, etc. There's also an overhang over the verandah that provides extra shade. Some people like that and others don't.
You’re right - you might get a better cabin. And you might not.
Are you a gambler? Have a fear of missing out? Or the type who rather get on with your life by not having to wait for the cabin assignment to come through?
Those guarantee cabins - always ask if you would be willing to take the worst cabin in the category? Even for the savings.
You might just end up on Deck 6, after all.
Normal cancellation policy would be the deal breaker if price is equal.
