VGF studio 7 months

We were lucky and found two nights 4/23 & 4/24 in January so about 3 months out

This is a bummer! Thinking of a few nights in June of 2016 at either VGF or the Poly. I know "buy where you want to stay" but I just want to try the VGF once. I tried booking at 7 months 3 times before (for June 14, October 14 and this next week) but nothing. Maybe next time I will see if a waitlist will come through. I've never tried that. I booked two nights lakeview at the Poly next week knowing they will be hard to get when everything is open and construction is done.

If you really want to stay at VGF and donb't own there then plan out your points to try a 1 bedroom- it is much more likely to be available at 7 months. Or be happy with a 1 night stay whenever you can grab a day in the midst of a vacation.

We reserved three nights in a VGF studio for mid-July at exactly the 7th month mark. Had to take lake view, though as no standard view was available.

If I only wanted studios at VGF, I would buy the fixed week option, assuming availability for the week I wanted. IMO, that's the only way to go, especially if one prefers to travel during the last 3 months of the year. (This may end up the best strategy for the Poly, too, but IMO, it's too soon to make a determination there).

Johnny D, I think you have been lucky and that your experience is not typical. There are too many reports of others ending up disappointed to suggest otherwise.

What my post was saying was that the advice not to buy VGF because you may be shutout at certain times of the year makes little sense to me. The difference in probability in getting a studio by owning vs. not owning at VGF is HUGE. January through September, most of the time, there would not be a problem right at 11 months to get a studio for a weeks stay. At 7 month, it would be almost impossible to stay for a week. October through December is tougher. So to recap, I have stayed or will be staying at VGF in a studio for at least 5 consecutive nights in October, March, December and Marathon weekend in January. That would never happen if I did not own their. I am sure there will be times I will be shut out. That is fine. But more often than not I will book early, get what I want and not have to do the 7 month dance. Though some have not gotten what they wanted, the 11 month window at VGF is more important than any other resort...IMO
