VGC Pre-Trip Packet?

I remember from our last trip to WDW that we got a couple of info packets/trip reminders in the mail prior to the trip (though part of that was all the MagicBand stuff). Does anyone know if DL does similar packets or mailings to guests prior to check-in? Has anyone rented points at VGC and received anything like that? If so, about how far out from your trip to did the mailing arrive?

We are planning our first trip to DL in Dec 2015 for our oldest kiddo's 5th birthday and miraculously secured a VGC 2 bedroom rental just inside the 11 month mark, through the DVC Rental Store. We had to provide all our contact info for the rental, but the the original confirmation email from Disney (forwarded by the member to DVC Rental Store, then forwarded to me) does not show a mailing address for us, just the confirmation number, member's name, all of our names, travel dates, and the DVC contact stuff. I assume that the member gives the renter's contact info when making the reservation so that if things like DME are added on (at WDW, obviously), the vouchers are mailed to the renter and not the member. The only other time we stayed at a DVC property was an RCI exchange into BWV last year, so I'm new to both the points rental process and DL in general.

Also, slightly off-topic, but what are the chances of getting a DCA view with a dedicated 2 bed villa? Do we need to have the member make the request now, or just sometime before check-in? We're really just thrilled that we even got into VGC (it sounded like it can be difficult to rent there since Cars Land opened) and that we're going on this trip at all, but it would be awesome to get a good room view too! Our son's birthday is only a couple of days before Christmas, so we're trying to make his birthdays as special as we can.

I've used DVC rental twice now, we will also be staying in a 2 bed villa in 2 weeks time. They do not post anything out, they will email you all the details for your booking. Just check in at GCH like a normal reservation.

Thanks! I was hoping there would be some mickey mail before the trip not just as confirmation but also as something fun to get the kiddos ready for the trip, but oh well. I did do a "countdown" of sorts in ballpoint pen on the calendar with the number of days until the trip, which is guess is almost as fun, right?

DLR sometimes mails a confirmation, but it's the same as the email.

It has been difficult to rent VGC, but it seems a few more owners are now renting points

Your chances of getting a DCA view are quite good
Earliest booking seems to get priority for villa assignment. You will need to have the owner add a view request to your reservation, which can be done now
A sample request:

"Prefer a high floor with Paradise Pier Park View.
The room order of preference is: 6500, 5506, 4506, 5500, 4500, 3522, 3506, 3500

Search thread for "6500" there are potential noise issues, but it would still be my first choice.
