VGC for non-DVC'er

So I've been looking at the trade/rent board and rarely notice any posts for VGC.

We'd love to stay at VGC for a week in early to mid October but it just seems impossible to find anyone with points (for rent). Is this resort that hard to get into?

I'd love to hear some tips on how I can possiblly inprove my search. I don't want to book direct with Disney as I'd much rather work with a DVC'er - although we're new to this process as well.

VGC is the smallest DVC resort and the only one at DLR, so it can be difficult to book..it is also sold out now, which means all of us owners are grabbing up those few villas at 11 months for the most part. I'm already booked for next October. Have you thought about trying David's rentals? He may have a larger pool of owners wanting to rent out points and could book now. If not, then you may have to wait until the 7 month mark and see if anything is available for owners of points at other DVC resorts to rent for you.

I'm an owner at SSR and used my points to book 4 nights at VGC the week before Christmas in 2009. I had to be flexible with my dates, but it worked.

For our October trip this year, nearly everything was booked - VGC, DH & PPH. Played with the dates again and finally found a room the PPH.

My 8 year old was very disappointed. He LOVES the GCH. But when I explained it was PPH or no Disney at all, he got over it fast.

I am a non DVCer and wanted to stay at the VGC and found that renting points was a more economical option than going through Costco or one of the other travel agencies. I used David's because I could not really figure out how to work the rent/trade board and I wanted this trip to be effortless and less likely to be effected by hiccups. It took me about three days after my initial contact with David's to have a contract in hand for three nights at the VGC in Feb., and I was later emailed a scan of the Disney reservation confirmation. I would storngly suggest you look into his service.

We rented a 2 bedroom at VGC last August through renting points from an owner at the 7 month mark with no trouble getting our dates/room choice.

I have about 2 weeks before I can even check for availability for the dates I want since I don't own there but I'm hoping I can get in, I just need two nights but it is over labor day weekend. The countdown starts til I can book them.

There are so many more owners that do not own points at VCG. There are only 46 2BR (half dedicated and half lockoffs) villas and a couple of GVs. The next smallest resort is HHI with 102 villas. So there just are not that many VGC owners. Also it is a new resort so many owners are still using their points versus renting them. Perhaps you should rent points from another DVC owner and book and hope they can book your reservation at the 7 month mark.

I did check David's website, but $13 a point still seems so high.
