Anyone have any thoughts on the chances of getting a 1 BR at the 7 month mark at VGC for early to mid-June 2015?

I was able to secure a studio for 7 nights at VGC for last June (I also added on another night the next day with no problems) at my 7 month mark. If you get online right when they open (an hour before MS opens), then you will have a much better chance of getting what you want. We went the first week of June. I know it is not a 1-bedroom like you asked but Studios are just as hard to come by, if not harder (from what I was told). Good luck getting what you want.

Yeah, I'd plan to be on the site at 8AM Eastern the day your seven-month window opens, or you might miss out.

I've noticed that 1 bedrooms are easier for sure than studios but wake up nice and early to get that room. Also, I walked my 3 day stay at GCV...i basically got a 7 day stay and later cut off my first 4 days to get the 3 days I wanted. I know some people say its worthless to do that but it worked for me on GCV and it also worked for me at Aulani during presidents day weekend ;)

We got a one bedroom last June, but had to wait list 2 days. We were on line right on time 8am at 7 months, but someone beat us to it and availability vanished instantly for the first day. Next day same thing happened. These days showed availability day before. Next day got 3 nights. We ended up doing 2 wait lists, one for each night needed. First one came through in 2 days, second day in about two months. We got our 5 nights but it took time and patience.

Agree that it important to be online exactly when the window opens. I booked 5 nights in June last year in a 1 bedroom. A couple of years ago I also booked a 1 bedroom in July.

If you don't walk it, u may be making a mistake. If I had enough points left I could help u out and do like an 11 month trade so to speak cuz we are going to the world then but I do not have the points for a week at vgc. Too expensive

Thanks everyone! I will get on line first thing at the 7 month mark - will shoot for early June (kids out of school at end of May). Probably going to book 4 nights, maybe 3.

For the 7 day walk, would have to borrow points to do this. Do I have this right - the eventual 4 day reservation would use the borrowed points from UY 2016 first allowing for banking of those same number of current UY 2015 points into the UY 2016? So, doing this only costs the ability to bank the UY 2016 borrowed points into UY 2017 since we're replacing UY 2016 points with banked UY 2015 points? Is that the way it works?

I was able to get us a studio at the 7 month mark as well. It was lb but standard was available as well. We got a week starting this Saturday.

I have not walked a reservation, but if I have doubts whether I will get it or not I book our week starting on Saturday. My thought(right or wrong) is that most DVC members book starting on Sunday as this is when the points are lower, eliminating members who are booking less than a week for the fewest points. So I get in one day prior to those folks at 7 mth mark(perhaps misguided assumption)

Any thoughts on which view is easier to get?? I am probably going to try to book about 4 nights at VGF pre-Dream cruise and then will probably book 4 nights post-cruise somewhere else. I was just looking at what I could do…if I can get a std. view studio at VGF then I'd have enough points for 5 nights in a studio at BCV after the cruise. If we have to book a lake view then I can only get 4 nights. Both scenarios use the same total number of points and leave just 1 point unused. :thumbsup2 I would love to get the std. view so we could get more nights later at BCV but wondered if it's more popular because it uses fewer points?? :confused3

Just note this thread was discussing VGC (in California) not VGF (in Florida) so answers are more likely to come if you post elsewhere. There are more standard studios than Lake View studios at VGF but both may be diffcult at 7 months out even in August, one of the slower DVC times; decent chance for BCV although even some possibility it could be missing a day that might have to be wait listed. Possible alternatives, BLT lake view and BWV pool/garden view, are highly likley to be open.

Oh DOH! Thanks. Too many similar abbreviations!!:rotfl:

OP - I was able to book a studio at VGC for August 2 summers in a row but I sort of walked it (booked a few extra nights early then cancelled off what we didn't want). Maybe I'll do the same thing for VGF. :rolleyes1
