Hey okworbust! Congrats on getting the THV! I cant wait to stay there. Also will be interested in the replies on this thread!

We went to THV's in June with DSis family and had a ball! While you don't need a car all the time to get around, I'd say it's helpful to have one available.

Let's see...we took the car to Epcot and DHS. We would have taken the car to AK but we had reservations for breakfast that occurred before the parking lot opened so we took the bus. Took the bus to MK (as always). Bus service was good!

We found the shuttle between THV's and SSR to be frequent and convenient although we sometimes opted to walk. We also drove to the main pool a couple of times.

I almost forgot...DH and I split up a couple of times and I took the car to Epcot with the baby and he met us later via bus. Very smooth. Good bus service the whole trip.

We enjoyed Turf Club for dinner one evening (a hidden gem IMO).

We had our groceries delivered. I think we used wegoshop (but maybe it was garden grocer). Either way, was great to have a stocked fridge since it was a schlep to main part of SSR.

Enjoy THV's!

Our family loved the Treehouses last October, and we'll be back again this June. Here's some things I learned:
1. The bunk beds are better for smaller people.
2. There is an icemaker in the freezer but no ice machines (even by the pool) so you may want to pick some up at SSR ice machines to get you started.
3. Grilling out is really fun. These are charcoal grills, and you can buy the charcoal packs with starter fluid already imbedded at the SSR food court. There are grilling tools in the Treehouse kitchen.
4. Consider requesting a unit near the water...our deck was waterside and our master bedroom windows also faced a canal. At night we'd leave our curtains open after lights out and watch the pretty lights of the little boats going back and forth en route to OKW.
5. A car is really the best option...lots of time lost waiting for buses.

We LOVED our treehouse stay...hope you do, too!

If you plan on using a car I would request near the north bus stop, it is close the entrance and is easy to get in and out of the THV area. If you are not using a car or don't have one, I would request near the south bus stop, it is close to the walkway to grandstand and the boat dock. Honestly, the map is a bit deceiving, everything is a relatively short walk (whole THV area is about the size of an area of SSR ie Grandstand or Congress Park) but seems very secluded because of the trees and very small roads.

For park busses, I would just walk over to grandstand and catch them there...the internal shuttle does run every 10 minutes, so it is a great option too.

You can request a golf course/water view, but they are limited views to say the least, the trees and brush is very grown in and it is mostly catching glimpses here or there out of certain windows from a few villas. Most people report very few bug problems, but they do creep up, so be prepared in case they haven't sprayed lately when you are there.

Don't expect to be "in the action" and enjoy the secludedness of the villas...expectations are huge to having fun. People that go and expect to be steps from a theme pool will usually be the ones that complain. People that go and are prepared for a few extra delays or knowing they are staying somewhere special and will have a some minor inconveniences because of that, they will usually stay happy!

Bunk bed's are definitely for smaller sized people, don't try and put a 6 ft tall adult in them and expect a good nights sleep. There is room for a floor sleeper in the bunk room and the master (twin mattress, not a double) but not in the second bedroom.

Unless you have a HA unit, you will have to take your luggage up the stairs. Everything is close walking distance. Sometimes we drove to the grandstand and caught the bus there.

We stayed there last July. We used to busses to all the parks and were able to get there before rope drop. The transfers at SSR were a pain but were doable. We took the boat over the DTD without a problem although we did have to wait about 20 for a boat.

We had a water view which was nice but you do hear the boats pass all day long.

The units were very nice. DH any I went to the pool one afternoon to relax and as luck would have it rained.

We had 6 in our party, Me, DH, DD, BIL & his GF,and her DS. The kids were both teens. We enjoyed having the extra space.

I cannot say enough good stuff about the THVs. We stayed in #7010 the week before Thanksgiving and had an awesome time. I was a bit disappointed at first that we didn't get a water view but it turned out great anyway. We were right smack in the middle of the woods. The internal bus stop was right at the end of our walkway and the bus seemed to come along about every ten or fifteen minutes. I was amazed at how often they came. We used the BBQ grills one night for a late supper and it was so much fun. DH and I finally decided this trip would be a little more relaxing for us and let the kids and grandkids head to the parks while we enjoyed time on the beautiful deck. It was wonderful. If you do a search here on the boards you will find many lengthy threads on the treehouses with tons of gorgeous pictures. They really were helpful to us. We cannot wait to stay in one again. Have a fantastic trip!

We stayed there last May.

My advice:

1. Rent a car

2. Bring insect repellant
