A friend of mine is travelling to Anaheim for the Veterans day weekeend so her son can go to a Ducks game. They will also spend the 11th, 12th and 13th in the parks. I told her I thought the park crowds would be quite good because all passes but the deluxe are blocked for those three days. Am I wrong? I realize that those are the first days of the Christmas decorations.

We're there the 11th and 12th so I'd love to know what people think as well. I know that with Christmas Holidays starting on the 12th it is supposed to be very busy but Im not too sure about the 11th.

I think that Friday the 12th will be pretty busy because of the novelty of the holiday decorations going up. Truth be told, most of the stationary decorations will already be up in the days/week leading up to 11/12, but the holiday entertainment begins on 11/12, such as Santa, the carolers, the nighttime Winter Castle light 'show' up Main Street, the snow, IASW Holiday, the Round-Up, etc. It will be busier than a Friday when there are no holiday decorations, in other words.

But, my thinking is that it will likely get busier in the second half of 11/12 and for that weekend because the Deluxe AP holders, the Premium AP holders and the Premier AP holders (who live nearby) can all stop by DLR after they get off work to take in the sights. I know this happened last year - quite a few locals who have APs higher than the SoCal kind went to the park on opening day of the festivities and they said it was rather crowded.

As for 11/11, It has been suggested (I think it was on our Christmas thread?) that it's likely that most of the people who have taken a vacation to be at DLR over Veterans Day will probably also stay through 11/12 or 11/13 (just like your friend, Susie63) to get a little taste of the holiday entertainment. So that would add to the crowds.

I've never heard of the days surrounding the holiday start date being crazy, crazy, New Year's Eve-ish crowds. So it won't be up to that level, which may be reassuring. But I would expect there to be quite a few people.

Also, depending on World of Color and what happens with that during Fall and Winter, that might cause an increase in attendance. WoC was not a factor that we had to contend with last year, so WoC + the (already busy) holiday season is a big question mark at this point.

I don't know what the blockout dates were last year but all the days around Veterans day, except that Friday & Sat. were not bad, but Friday was crazy (in my opinion), but I will say that it did not get bad until later in the day like Sherry said - most likely the locals after work and school to come see the Christmas Decor especially since that Friday was the lighting of the Castle. We are going again this year so I hope it isn't to bad.

Thanks Sherry!! Is there any word on a Holiday version of WOC??

Not so far. When WoC was built, apparently it was set up so that the scenes in the show can be easily and quickly switched out, so if they, for example, want to do a future Halloween-themed WoC or Christmas WoC, they can do it without too much trouble.

But I think the general opinion is that it's highly unlikely they will try to do a holiday overlay on WoC this year - so soon after its debut. Maybe not even for a few years. I could be totally wrong, but my guess would be that we probably won't see any holiday overlays of WoC until all the work is done in DCA and the billion dollar transformation is complete. When it's all finished and they can do more stuff in DCA for HalloweenTime and Christmastime, that would be the perfect opportunity to start getting jazzy with WoC and adding in overlays.

Supposedly TSMM is also set up to easily switch to a Halloween or Christmas theme. Mr. Potato Head has already recorded some Christmas songs and various holiday-related banter for these future overlays, and it's just a matter of when DLR thinks it's time to do a TSMM Halloween/Christmas overlay that we have to wait on.

I can honestly say Im not sad that there won't be a change in the WOC show. Trying to fit in another thing to do on our only "Holiday" day was scaring me :scared1:

Once again Sherry, you have come to the rescue and set my mind at ease

Thank you.:goodvibes Of course, my predictions may mean next to nothing if DLR comes along and switches things up on us!! At the start of this year, I don't think a lot of us expected HalloweenTime to go exactly the way it's going to go this year. DLR changed some things and all speculation went flying out the window!!:rotfl2: I'm wondering if there will be more shake-ups in store for the holiday season.

We were there last year also, and I agree the other days of the week weren't bad but Friday (our last day) was CRAZY! It was super fun to see the holiday parade and all the decor finished though.

We will be there on the 11th-14th. I guess we will brave the crowds! Woo-hoo!:cheer2:
