Veterans day crowds?

I was there on Veteran's Day a couple of years ago. It was busy but not crowded. Only needed to use a fast pass once. The rest of the rides were in the 15-20 minute wait range.

Good time to go. Have fun.

I think it will be very crowded for these reasons:

Veteran's Day is a Thursday, so many schools have Friday off either as a furlough day or as a teacher work day.

Friday, Nov 12 is the beginning of the Christmas season, and that day is always crowded.

Last week I tried to get reservations at Hojo's and Desert Inn for Nov 10 -13, and they both were completely booked. In the past, I've gone at Thanksgiving and in the summer, and I've never had a problem getting a reservation.

If you look at the DIS list of November visitors, the number of families with dates around Veteran's Day is huge!

I will be there then and am expecting very large crowds.

I agree with DisMike, first off, he was there last year, so that is about as good as an indicator as you can hope for. Second, that day, and the 2 days after, until Sunday, are blocked out for So-Cal pass holders. And locals make up 70% of the visitors to DLR.

Now, I am sure since that is a holiday weekend, there will be more out of town tourists, but I wouldn't think more than 70% more. So I also expect busy, but not packed. At least that is what I am hoping for!! :thumbsup2

Now Sunday, when the blockout is lifted and it is the first day locals with passes can come visit the holiday decorations? I expect that day to be crazy.
I plan on spending all day in CA.

But regardless, I know I will use good touring strategies and have an Amazing time!!:banana:

I think it will be kind of a mixed blessing, while a lot of APs are blocked, being a 4 day weekend that will make it much busier than a 3 day or reguar 2 day weekend, when SoCal AP's are blocked are blocked as always anyway.

Sunday may likewise be mixed. A lot of people will be driving home that day, and the SoCal AP's will be coming in.

Also I know some base prices/rack rates of a few hotels in the area. By doing a quick search Thursday to Sunday they are close to max rates, so it looks like nearby hotels are going to fill up during this next month.

I am going to guess it will be a bit busy. We were there last year for the full week and Veterens Day was busy but the first Friday of Christmas was super busy compared to the rest of the week. It was a beautiful time of year to visit though, have a great trip!!
