Hey everyone I am listening to the podcast from the 4th of July. My husband is a Veteran and is deployed right now. I want to know what are the odds of him getting to be a flag lowering vet for the flag lowering ceremony? That would perfect. We are going to DW when he gets home :cool1:

You should go to MK Guest relations when you get to the park. They have a book with the dates. You can see if a date is available when you are there.

Just make sure to get to the MK early and be flexible. When we were the in May, I checked to see if my dad could participate. We were only able to be at the MK the one day, and the Marines beat us to it! Oh well....maybe next time.

My hubby was the Veteran of the Day this past March, which also ended up being his birthday! It was a wonderful experience for us all.

Besides going directly to MK on the day you want him to be Veteran you can also check with the concierge at your hotel when you arrive for your stay. We stayed at POP and the front desk called City Hall for me, told them what I needed, then had me get on the phone to go over my available dates. I was able to book it a week in advance without having gone to MK...it's worth a shot for you! You will be so impressed by the whole process...my DH did it upon his return from his 15 month Afghanistan deployment. It was the best thing we did! Good luck

PS--Huge thanks to your hubby for his service, and to you for your service, too! :goodvibes

My husband is also a veteran and would love to do this! Thanks for the tip about contacting the hotel concierge upon arrival. We'll be there 10 days...maybe luck will be on our side and he'll be able to do the ceremony.

Here is my Dh receiving the flag. Photopass will take a ton of photos-and we purchased the CD so we were able to get all of them. Great investment. Good luck when you go on your trip,, calypso, --10 days away--yay for you!! Please let me know if you are able to get him a spot!

I wish we'll be there in 10 days...but unfortunately we don't leave until the end of August (but will be staying onsite 10 day). Thanks for your well-wishes, I'll definitely report back if he gets to do it!
