just checked my bank balance, and it is 60 quid over my overdraft because DLP have taken off the total balance for my holiday booking - they said they were only going to take 10% at the time of booking and then take the balance of on the 15th november. because of this i have incurred a 60 quid bank charge which my bank is refusing to refund.

this is completely unacceptable, as the plan was to get the money off of my friends before the 15th of november. as a result, i now wont have money to spend at a festival i am going to at the weekend - what should i do!?!?!

i will call them on my break at work, but i don't know if they will be able to give me the 60 pound back, what do you guys think is the best course of action?

I was always led to understand that internet booked holiday the total came off whereas a phone call it was a 10% deposit with the balance either taken automatically sometime later or the booker having to remember to pay at the right time.
That is why we have always avoided booking Direct with Disney on the internet.

Hope you manage to get something sorted out :goodvibes

We had to phone back up to pay the balance - I was actually 9 days late as the final date had passed but they were absolutely fine.

Yes this what i have always thought the case was too.

it wasn't internet booking though - I called and spoke to the team in florida on the 087066800 number

I called and I'm really disappointed - it'd going to take up to 8 weeks to get my money back, which I'm just going to have to pay out anyway in november!!!! they said they would refund bank charges but to be honest this just isn't good enough, I don't know what to do :'(

Try speaking to the bank and explain what happened. Ask them if they can waive the charge. They might do it if you're a good customer.

my issue is with disney for doing that though. bank can't refund as they have already waived bank charges last month, even though that was the first time i'd breached the limit.

do you think i am due some sort of compensation at all for their error?

I think if they are offering to pay the bank charges that you'll not get anymore since they are compensating you for the financial loss :)

I have to agree with Reid (again) here, They're doing the most appropriate thing, i really dont think they would offer anymore after all they're not obliged to pay your bank charges. Isn't there any chance your friends could give your some of the money they own you earlier?

Sorry I don't have any advice, other than if you explain to your friends what's happened, hopefully some or all will be able to give you something towards their costs now, it's only 2 months to November so they may already have saved towards the cost. Fingers crossed for you. :flower3:

This is not a one off as it happened to my friend and she booked through a travel agent. By the time she could get her money back it would have to be paid again. Hers was a credit card though so she has interest payments as she was planning on saving up for it each month. I didn't have any problems with my booking.

I doubt you would get any compo. At least they have offered to pay the bank charges.

Im never booking with Disney direct again or whatever they call themselves...the exact same thing happened to my sisters in-laws about a month ago and they charged me too much also....they are a bunch of crooks!

The promised the manager would phone me back but that was ages ago....not a peep! They are full of excuses so I'm leaving it now and in future booking elsewhere!

Good luck..I think you'll need it!

I personally have always booked through and never had a problem.

I doubt you will get any compensation as they have offered to pay your bank charges. I hope you get it sorted out.

Is it not possible to use the French number for booking?

They send you a normal bill by post and you pay a litlle in advance through your own bank and the big portion at a Certain date.

well, I got a call today from a lovely woman from DLP, who thanked me for my 'constructive!' emails. She apologised profuse;y and said that they could send the money back in 2 weeks, I said not to as it would have to come out anyone, I would just try to get the money off my friends. She also said they could have covered the bank charges, but my bank has agreed to do this anyway.

So as a goodwill gesture, she has upgraded us to a Montana room in the Sequoia Lodge (I think I could have pushed a bit harder and got into the NPB or even HNY, but we *really* want to stay at SL!!) AND given us vip fastpasses for every day of our stay :D not only that but we had a good chat and she actually thanked me for complaining, as she thinks it is a complement to the company as I had confidence they would fix the problem :) and i did!!

resolved - one happy DISer!

BTW - ummmm....what do VIP fastpasses actually entail?!

Well done on getting a result.

When we stayed there we were given a VIP fastpass because if was my bday and it just meant we could go into breakfest whenever we wanted without queueing, not sure if this is the same thing as your getting. This was the only thing we used it for as we didnt know how else we could use it~it wasnt really explained to us.

We had a problem when trying to pay for our stay at Easter. We paid the deposit then when we phoned to pay the balance for some reason they kept trying to take it out of the bank but not actually completing the transaction. This happened 3 times but it meant the money was sort of frozen in the bank as they had started the transaction.
We pushed the 'complaint' with them and were offered a character breakfast but as we had already booked one we were given free tickets to Buffalo Bills and VIP fast passes.

The VIP fast passes mean you can go to the fast pass entrance of any ride when ever you want and ride. Ours had a time on them ( I think they could be used between 11am and 8pm). It meant you could go on things like BTM over and over again and didnt have to plan or get the FP tickets in advance.

A word of warning when we checked in the fast pass tickets werent given to us. We asked for them and at first they were saying we werent entitled but we had the EMail with us that stated we were being given them as a gift.

BTW - Meant to say well done on a good result. Shows its worth pushing if you're not happy

yes she did say she would email the hotel direct and i asked her to include me in the email for confirmation purposes

that sounds great! might be useful as i think jan may turn out to be busy after all...a lot of good offers on plus ToT! i wonder if THIS will have a fastpass...??!! :rotfl2:
