VERY Upset!!!!!!!!!

Well silly me! I just learned a DIS lesson. Never post before you have finished reading the entire thread and check the dates of the OP, some like this one are pretty old.

This thread sure did take a left turn. I don't think I want to get into this discussion.

I do hope that anyone effected by this years Grad Night will be able to enjoy themselves anyway.

For people's information official the hours of the Magic Kingdom have been 9-6 with WDW adjusting times for crowds. Whatever you get after 6pm is gravy.

Grad nights....Apr. 22,23 & 29,30. MK closes at 7pm on those nights...that's two Fridays/Saturdays in a row...not fair for out of town visitors vacationing.

And when we go to WDW in October, the MK will close to anyone without a special ticket for three nights per week due to MNSSHP. Is that unfair? Is Disney cheating us out of something that we deserve? I honestly don't think so. We have never had any difficulty with just working our schedule around it and going to a different park on those evenings. There will be plenty of opportunity for us to spend time at MK on other days/evenings during the week of our visit.

Sure, it might have been kinda nice on our first night at WDW to go to MK and see Wishes--can't though, because it's a MNSSHP night (and we aren't going to buy tickets for that date). But it's not going to ruin our vacation if we go to Epcot and end up watching Illuminations our first night instead... or decide to watch the MK fireworks from the beach at the Poly.

There is so much to enjoy and experience at WDW. Which specific night of our trip we spend in each individual park isn't really a major concern to us--we'll get to them all at least once or twice throughout the week. Something like Grad Nights (or MNSSHP, or any other hard ticket event) simply isn't worth getting all stressed out over. So take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy your WDW vacation. :wizard:

I'm not exactly sure why Grad Night has turned into such a big deal for non grads, lol. One park out of all of them is closing two hours earlier than it usually does at that time of year. And half the days that is happening, its EMH for the park in the AM anyway. Other than that, most people would have no clue its "Grad Night" if they hadn't read about it here.

This is the kind of reply that makes people not want to post things. MY original posting was because I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT. MNSSHP is WELL PUBLICIZED. Grad nites aren't, and again....I AM NOT FROM FLORIDA so how would I know this a time honored tradition (and a very nice one at that). Do I feel I am not getting my monies worth....absolutely. Am I still going....absolutely. Have I rearranged my plans...absolutely.

Will I ever post how UPSET I get again....NEVER :sad2:

The thing is that while they don't publicize Grad nights, they release park hours clearly showing that the park is closing early on those nights just as far in advance as they announce MNSSHP and MVMCP dates. They don't advertise grad nights because they are not for regular guests, they are not trying to sell you anything, however they make it perfectly clear that the parks will be closing early on those nights. All you have to do is look at the park hours.

I'm sorry that you are upset that not everyone was sympathetic.

Having said that, I am always amazed that people get upset when others post their personal opinions and viewpoints on a discussion board. All the differing opinions and views are what keeps it interesting to me. You have every right to be upset just as others have a right to think there really isn't anything to be so upset about.

They came out after the 90 day window of priority seatings....and before the EMH were released SO I had to re-arrange a lot of my PS. So it truly isn't that early in advance. I also made these ressies for this trip last August...and it was released back then!!!

I also agree to the differing opinions, not just the nastiness and condescendingness of them.

Having been MANY times around Grad nights, I can honestly say they have never interfered with our plans.. also, and I think things might have changed since WISHES started, but during April/May time it is considered slow season and regularly MK used to close at 7pm...

Park times change all the time. We have visited for 2 weeks before now and never gotten to see Spectromagic as it just wasnt on in that time.. or Fantasy in the Sky fireworks were only on once during that time, and the park was so crowded we just had to leave..

Did I feel cheated? No, thats just the way it was.

I can understand your frustration though. My advice is never go to fireworks over a weekend if you can avoid it anyway.. take some time and go to Epcot or MGM those evenings and enjoy Wishes another night..

2princessintraining-- I can understand how you feel. I'm sure it's frustrating to plan your vacation and think you have all your ducks in a row and then find out you missed something. There is much time and research that can be spent in planning a disney vacation, so you like to think you haven't overlooked anything. We have been many times, but grad nights is still something I forget about. Sometimes you just need to vent. I hope you will continue to post. There is a lot of wonderful information here. It's funny, it's because we love disney and want to experience everything that they have to offer that we get upset when we miss something (spectro). It's not because we dislike disney or think they "owe" us more than they are giving us.

Have a wonderful trip!

They only release park hours 60-90 days in advance, most people book air and hotel before that. Late April hours were released February 1. Epcot is closing at 3:00pm on May 5, hours were released on March 1. On the other hand, I don't think WDW is obligated to tell everyone making reservations that one park may close a little earlier than usual on their dates of stay. I was there March 2 to 7, MK closed at 7:00pm on Friday night and that was a peak season date. I went to Epcot that night.
