Very upset over a delivery I attended yesterday.

I hope if she chooses to be stupid and stay with him, she doesn't have any more kids with him. He should go to the spay/neuture mobile and get the old snip snip taken care of, that would calm him down-lol.

That's just sad that some people are like that. Did he not want the baby or something?? Maybe now he thinks she will trap him into marrying him because they have a kid.

What a jerk!! Was this their first baby? If I were her, I think I would kick him to the curb.

How sad and I am sorry this has been weighing heavily on your mind. When my DD (see her picture in my siggie) was born by c-section, before the doctor said whether she was a girl or a boy, he said "She's a redhead." One of the fondest memories I have of her birth.

My mom and dad heard the same thing about me. They got the it's a red-headed........(long pause).....more pushing...........use forceps.........little boy.

As for the OP that is just horrible. My MIL made our second DD's birth a nightmare with her just showing up. My wife if she had not had an epidural I think would have crawled out of bed and in to the hall to kill her. I have loved being there for both my girl's births. I hope I will be there for our third (barring any weird problems I should be). Thinking about the smoking breaks it is funny because the nurses had to kick me out my wife's room just to go get something to eat. I didn't want to leave and something happen.

Let's hope that the Mom has a gorgeous redheaded boyfriend on the side, who's just waiting for her to dump this guy! Also, my Mom had beautiful red hair all of her life, (of course she didn't appreciate the freckles!), and right up until she died, she had the prettiest strawberry blond hair, with only a hint of gray at the temples, so if that's how red hair ages, bring it on! :goodvibes

I'm so sorry :grouphug: But, I think that you need to look at it this way.....

That mother NEEDED you. Maybe more than any other you've ever been with. Think of how utterly alone and distraught she would have been without your support. That is the crux of being a Doula in my book. Imagine the happiest day of your life and the person that is supposed to share it with you couldn't care less and is even hateful about it. How awful for her, but even worse if she had been alone. You championed her and got her through it, with support and care. I am grateful you were there for her in such a stressful time where nothing was going her way, and I'm sure she is too. :grouphug:

Slip me his address and between me, PAW, Kristi, and Microcell, we can show him the temper side of redheads :teeth:

I always remember my mom telling me how thrilled she was when they told her I was a girl when I was born but the highlight was the doctor telling her I was special because I was a redhead and that isn't something you see everyday.

Jerk

Sadly there's no pre-qualification for being a parent. Many would not pass that test and he sounds a candidate for sure...blessings to that lady and her beautiful baby girl in spite of that loser. I would feel exactly as you do...let's hope there's a higher power watching over them. :sad2:

Unfortunately, I've witnessed several episodes in a delivery room with the father behaving in a similar fashion. It's never easy on the medical staff but there's nothing we can do but endure it.

Worst thing I ever was involved in was a patient of mine on pediatrics many years ago. Cutest little 2 year old boy had been my patient for a week and when it came time for him to be released, NO ONE would come to the hospital to get him!!!! The sheriff's office had to be called and they were able to locate his grandparents who (reluctantly) came for him a few days later. :sad2: Work with people and you'll see some sad and horrible things.

Truer words have never been spoken! Please take heart that you did a great job for this mom and her baby. :thumbsup2 to you.

This is what first came to mind for me too. It must have been so frustrating to have to deal with that father, but you should really feel good about bringing support and kindness to someone who very much needed it.

The mother and baby were certainly lucky to have you there as a positive influence during the birth. If mom knew dad well she was probably glad dad wasn't in there.

DH and I both have dark brown hair and dark eyes. DD was born with red hair and blue eyes (thanks to my and DHs tall, red-headed grandmothers). We couldn't really tell it was red in the delivery room. They took DD off to the nursery to clean her up, etc. and put her in the warmer. My mother and other family went to see her kept running back to my room to tell us she had red hair, but we just didn't believe it. Once they brought her to back to us we saw it - all that beautiful red hair. Redheads are such a special blessing. :goodvibes

:grouphug: to mom, baby & you!

This just made me so sad. And I'm not a redhead, but I wish I were. I have a redheaded sister, brother & nephews. I love redheads.

Oh wait! Count me in on this one :thumbsup2 Let's show him what 'true' redheads are all about! :teeth:

Hey, if anyone should be upset about having a redhead, it should be me! How the heck does a blonde hair, blue eyed woman and a brown hair, brown eyed man produce an auburn hair, hazel eyed kid??

I'm sorry the dad was so horrible. I would (and did) smack my husband if he did anything slightly wrong in the delivery room.

My parents both have brown hair and brown eyes - they had two blue eyed redheads! :confused3

Heather, seriously - that mother was so lucky to have you there! Let's hope & pray she kicks "dad" to the curb a.s.a.p.!
