Very Sad!

Something really sad happened tonight. My daughter saw that her real life friend who she goes to school with was on VMK. She went into her room but the room title said that her friend’s real life Mom died in a car accident last week. She had made a room full of lights in tribute to her Mom and even had in her signature that her Mom had died. My DD was very upset so she called her.

Come to find out, it wasn't true. Her friend told her the room was for a friend but we know that’s not the case because her signature said HER Mom had died.

My daughter was really upset and the more I thought about it the more I wondered why so, if you know me, I had to ask. When I confronted her, she said it was for a friend and when I asked then why is it in your signature, she left.

I am trying to understand why an 11 year old would do this. I know her Mom and I know she loves her. The only thing I can come up with is that she was just after VMK attention. She must want VMK friends so badly that she is willing to do something like this.

I just want to say that if there are ANY kids out there who are lonely and need some company, just let me know and if I'm around, I will be there.

Aww..Thats so sad Kelsie. If she needs a friend im always here i really thought she had died until i read further more. Thanks for letting us know. And if i need anything or anyone else needs something from you im sure we would come to you.

I'm sorry to say this WebmasterKelsie.. I have come across a lot of these rooms in my day (and i've been playing since beta) and all of the rooms i've come across had the owner making everybody feel bad in order for the guests to give the owner free things.. i may or may not be true (and i hope i'm wrong) but your DD's friend kinda sounds like a scammer.. but i'm sure it's just a cry for attention

It had scared me to death when I saw my friends room title I ran to the phone lol. I hope she does not get bannned for doing that. So I just hope it does not happen any more.

I thought of that also and at first I was pretty angry. I know her and I don't think she's been playing long enough to even know about scamming. I could be wrong, but I truly believe it was just a cry for attention and friends.

No, it's ok because it really is a possibility. I don't know, either way it's pretty sad.

That's what I thought when I first read this story.

I'm very sorry for your daughter and that she had to go through that. As we all know, there are some very valued players that help others out and have only truthful bones in their body. There are, however, others that take advantage of them.

I'm sorry your daughter has to go through this and realize that not only do these people exist, but her very friend is one of them. I wish you two the best of luck getting through this as I can only imagine what pain is caused by such an action as this.

People online LOVE attention.. I don't know why.. I have a friend online who always says she's going to kill herself. I just think that it's horrible to lie about that, I don't really like attention hogs. But I get EXTREMELY mad when someone lies about that and then later they tell me they lied. Because I'm nice and I give them items usually for free.. People always take advantage of my kindness.

being a CL I get kids coming to my rooms and asking to be friends all the time I even deleted some long time friends so I could add some of these kids.


Our friends list is just not long enough.

Yeah.... I want more friends too. But I do believe CL should have more slots than regular players. Because CLs are responsible for helping people.

That is so sad and it does sound like a cry for attention. Maybe if you and her mother are good friends you can talk to her, as a mother I would want to know if my child did that.

I know when my grandma died I just put Im very sad right now do not bother me please people said sorry and all and It is sad that may not be real but things do really happen but they way it sounds it is not.

Maybe you should talk to your friend and see what's really going on.


I really hate to see kids so lonely that they resort to this type of thing to get attention. It's so extremely sad.

WebmasterKelsie: Maybe a good idea, like Tamz said, is to talk to the girl's mother about this, too. If she's that desperate for attention on VMK, there may be some underlying real life problems.
