We had to put our other kitty to sleep today. He had a stroke yesterday. I was so shocked. He was fine earlier during our lunch break and has been in great health all these years. Still like a kitten most of the time.

At least he didn't have to suffer long but it sure is hard. He was a little over 15 1/2 years old.

We are heartbroken today. We had lost our other kitty to cancer back in March.

Thanks for listening. I know most of you know how we feel. They are our family. They are our kids with four legs and fur.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

I am so sorry for your loss. This poem has always given me some comfort when we have lost a furbaby.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So sorry to hear of your loss. Pets do become a part of our families. It's never easy losing one.

  Sending you hugs and comfort - what a tough loss, and so sudden. Its hard when you don't have time to mentally prepare...of course it is never easy no matter what.

They will not go quietly, the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives.
Old habits still can make us think we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place the food dish use to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts belongs to them.... and always will.

Thanks to you all.

I love the Rainbow Bridge poem. Before we had taken him to the vet this morning I sat with him and told him it was ok for him to go and be with his brother and they would wait for us at Rainbow Bridge. :sad1:

That is a nice poem. Thanks for posting it. I have already seen him tonight coming around the corner of the kitchen when I was scraping a bowl clean. I saw our other kitty some too. Just out of the corner of the eye. Something to make you do a double check. :sad1:

I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. After that long of a time they are no longer loved pets but a part of the family, they fill that special spot in the family as only they can, and always return the love they recieve.
Sincerely,
Frank

:sad1: Oh dear.:sad1: This had to be a devastating day for your family. I am so sorry for you all.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss:sad1: I hope you find comfort in knowing that he did not suffer long. Our animals are so close to our Hearts! My heart goes out to you and your family:grouphug:

i am sorry to hear about your loss. he/she is young and healthy once again and playing with the other kitty he shared his life with..

I am so sorry for your loss. We have a beautiful Persian who is 14 years old and we love her soooooo much! I know she is reaching the end of her life and I don't know how we will handle it. We got our kitty 12 years ago when her owners had to give her up because of allergies. She is a HUGE part of our family and she worships my husband and daughter even though she is my kitty! I understand your loss and I hope you can find peace and maybe a new kitten to share your love with.

Wow.....that Rainbow Bridge is a tear jerker, huh????

Hey...I have 2 kittens that were born in my truck during our evacuation from hurricane Ike....you're more than welcome to one of them....or both of them....heck, ya can evem have the momma cat if ya want it....how about a very masculine chihuahua....ok...the masculine part may be a stretch.

Seriously, Im very sorry for your loss......I recently lost my mean old one eyed cat to a careless driver.....I loved that cat as much as I hated her, and the feeling was mutual, Im sure. I hated cats...she hated humans...somehow we got along pretty well.

Thank you. It does help to know he didn't have to suffer long.

Thank you. Yes, I believe he is up there playing with his brother waiting for us at Rainbow Bridge. Both healthy and young again. Our other kitty was almost 13 when we lost him back in March.

Thank you. I knew he was getting older and that someday it would happen but he was in such good health. He was really amazing for his age. It was just so sudden. I know though that it was good that it was so quick and he didn't have to suffer long.

Thanks to all of you. I know lots of us here have furry family members that we love very much. You guys are the best.

I appreciate the offer of your kitties. I think it will be a little while before we get another unless of course one happens to choose us first.

You always make me laugh Rog. Thanks. Masculine chihuahua.

Thank you for your thoughts. I am sorry you lost your kitty.

So sorry for the loss of your kitty. When growing up 2 kittys found our family, and stayed for 17 years, it broke my heart when they died, but with time now I just have fond and funny memories of them. I hope this point comes to your family soon. :cat: :cat:

I am tearful and saddened by your loss. It's always hard when you lose any member of the family. May sweet memories of your loyal friend live in your heart forever....
