they now have a dish with "peanut sauce" on it and with a liquid there is just to large a chance of cross contamination and DD is very sensitive. we replaced it with Concourse Steakhouse. can i get some reviews of this restaurant as we have never been there.

There's no need to cancel because of an allergy. Just have the CM note it on your ADR"s Disney is very good with handling allergies.

thats very good in theory but all it takes is one knuckle head who picks up a ladle that was used to put the peanut sauce on something and use it to put the maple glaze on my DD's steak. we would then be in a life threatening situation. we have been dealing with this for many years and when it is just looking out for products that "are manufactured in a facility that also manufactures products containing peanuts" we can stay away from these things. but liquids like sauces and peanut oils can get into other stuff easily. it is easy for someone else to say dont worry about it when they dont have to worry about it. that decision has been made. we are annual visitors but have never eaten at the Concourse, i am just asking for reviews of that restaurant.

Have you checked on the DISabilities board to see what other's experiences have been with LeCellier? As I understand it the chefs are very cognizant of food allergies and working with families that have them. I think there's a person in the food-service area that you can also get in touch with.

I so understand your concern- I have an acquaintenance whose DS has life threatening peanut allergies, so much so that they don't eat out ever. It's been very difficult for my friend but I've learned a lot! :grouphug: :grouphug:

DH and I just ate at the Concourse a little over a week ago and we both loved it! I think it is the best steak I have ever had and the creme brulee was to die for! I think you will enjoy it!

Sorry dalt01. I understand your point. Risky to take a chance if you don't have to.

Let us know how hte concourse was.

Concourse Steakhouse is very good. I ate there a couple of summers ago for dinner and it was very good. However, if you are looking for a quiet dinner, don't make your ADR's here. We had a late dinner here and there were plenty of families with kids. (It didn't bother me, it is Disney after all. But some people may want a quiet dinner.) The restaurant is in the open area of the Contemporary. But the food was excellent!!!!

The Concourse is good. I was there last year and while I enjoyed the steak, I liked my appetizer even more! It was a delicious tomato and mozzarella salad....yum.

I understand your caution - I don't know what restaraunt my daughter's friend went to in Disney, but they accidently put a dark BBQ sauce on her ice cream thinking it was hot fudge. They thought it was funny, but a peanut mistake wouldn't be.

Concourse Steakhouse is very good! I've been there several times, and enjoyed it each time. The steaks are good, along with the french onion soup and several of the appetizers and desserts.

Hope you have a great trip!

I can sympathize. My mom is allergic to all seafood and had to give it up when she was 75. :sad2: She was recently in the hospital for a procedure and was discussing it with a physician who said that she really should avoid all restaurants that serve a lot of seafood. Not only is cross-contamination a real danger, but sometimes just the odor of the food can send some very sensitive individuals into having a serious reaction. She is normally very cautious about this. When we are dining out with her, we avoid ordering seafood; it is a small price to pay to keep her safe. I had to take her to the ER when she had her first reaction; she had only prepared the food; she had not eaten a bite; it was very frightening. I personally would not take the risk either; you are very wise.

The Concourse is very good. We have eaten them many times and enjoyed it each time. I think you will enjoy it!

If it were me I would make a call to disney dining.. the special request guy. Oh I cannot recall his name but I have called him for DD's diabetes requirements. I would ask him to confirm which places have NO peanut products in thier kitchens. There is a section with his name and number on allearsnet.com. If I find it I will update my post and let you know.
OK.. found it.. His name is joel and his number is 407 560 4588

Concourse is very good, And will be gone soon.

I agree with HERSEY - there is no reason to cancel. Just ask to speak with the chef and they will personally take care of your meal. Disney Chef's are very well known for this. Also - how do you know there are no peanuts in the Concourse? Every restaurant has peanut butter on hand. The good thing is NO Disney Restaurant is allowed to use peanut oil.

Anothing thing to remember, menu's change all the time, how do you know that the item in auestion ie even still on the menu, or will be when you arrive? Remember, these websites are unofficial and not always up to date. Disney does not post menu's on any of their websites.

Call 407-WDW-INFO and ask to be connected to Brenda Bennett, she will personalize your itinerary and contact all the chefs that you'll be dining with. If you request, they will call you back to confirm.

Email me for more info-

I would also recommend placing something in the subject line about the restaurant you're seeking reviews of- in this case, Concourse Steakhouse. That way people browsing the dining forum can answer more easily.

Good luck!
