30 days away, we'll be heading to disney......I am looking for the most romantic place to have dinner with my dh. We are celebrating many occasions during this visit, my bday, ds 2nd bday, 4 yr anniversary...but the most important is that after this trip, within days, my dh leaves for Iraq. I of course want to plan the most romantic dinner with the most AWESOME food but don't normally do this type of thing in Disney b/c of the children (we do Chef Mickeys which I don't feel is appropriate for this occasion). I've read the reviews of V & A's but don't want to go to the extreme of him wearing a jacket to dinner, want it to be more business casual. I've also gotten ideas for Narcoosee's or California Grill. I know with all the experts here on the boards SOMEONE can give me good ideas....it is quickly approaching so I must plan something very soon. Please help....THANKS!!

We are doing our celebration romantic dinner at CA Grill. I don't know about the others that you have listed but I'm sure it'll be wonderful no matter what.

OT: but if you need anyone to talk to about the upcoming deployment please feel free to IM me. We are soon to be winding up my husband's second rotation to Iraq. If you have questions or need help please let me know. I know how difficult it can be. Good luck to ya'll :grouphug:

Narcoossee's amd California Grill both are good choices although both can be noisy. But both have killer views so a little noise is worth it to me. :sunny:

Citricos at the GF is another good choice and tends to be more subdued. Really any of the signature restaurants can be romantic depending on personal view.

But bless both your families, lovemyfamily and aj. And thanks to your husbands for their service. :sunny:

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the California Grill last year and are doing the same next month! I had considered either Citricos or Flying Fish (on the boardwalk) but my husband really wanted to go back to California Grill. It was wonderful, great service, great food, and the view of Wishes is awesome! I would highly recommend CG!

By the way, where are you staying? We stay at Shades if Green because my dh is in the Air Force Reserves.

I knew I could count on helpful responses.

We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas. We have a timeshare (although not thru Disney) but the only issue is we were only able to get a studio. I am hoping something opens up for a larger room within the next month. But just being able to spend time together is all that is important. It will be 2 months since we've seen him, I can't wait and neither can our boys. And to be able to see him in Disney, things can't get any better. I am thinking I will call today and make the res for CG. THanks everyone! :wave2:

Most Romantic?

Hands down...Rose and Crown at Epcot, just before Illuminations.

Ever eat a meal by candlelight? This is even better...eat a meal by fireworks light!

Then...when the meal is over (and if you time it right) you get to exit the park well after closing, when almost all of the other guests are gone...you and yours get to walk slowly along the Epcot water, with the light from the country pavillions reflecting off the water, all to the Epcot background music.

Narcoosees, IMHO, is very noisy I find it the least romantic. It is just because of the tables but the acoustics. The noise just bunces around and echos. Also Narcoosees had some very mixed reviews. We do not care for it.

On the other hand, Citricos and Cali Grill are both excellent choices. My DH and I love them both and really could not pick an actual favorite, but I would have to say the CG has a slight edge. It is more of a special experience, besides the excellent food and service. The food choices are more vaired. The view is just beautiful and it's fun to walk out onto the observation deck. We have gone out there to watch fireworks and the electrical lagoon parade, it's a great view from up there. You can only go to the deck if you are having dinner there, so it is not crowded anymore. Very romantic. I also think that the kids will enjoy it very much too. The flatbreads are really kid friendly - they are pizzas. My DH and I don't have kids but see lots of families and couples having a great time. Find out when the fireworks are from the schedule and make your ADR for 1/2 hour earlier....that's what we do. If you are not seated yet or don;t have a table by the window, go out on the deck. I would recommend that anyway.

have a great time and a wonderful trip!

if we are in the middle of dinner, can we leave to go to watch the fireworks on the observation deck and come back or do we need to be finished?

I am unable to answer your question directly, but I'll relate my experience. We asked for a table outside and it was given to us, so we never had to leave our table. We had a nice table next to the water with a great view of the fireworks. Desert and a second round of drinks were served just before the fireworks started. I believe that if you are a patron of the Rose and Crown, and you were seated inside, that they have an area reserved for inside patrons. This is a bonus all by itself, since you get an unobstructed view. I did notice that the people inside moved outside just before the fireworks started.

I am unsure about the coming back to your table part, but I would find it hard to believe that they'd clear your food away while you were outside. They shut the inside lights off during the fireworks so it is unlikely that the staff would be able to work during the fireworks. You might want to check out some other threads about eating inside at the R&C.

The only drawback to eating outside might be wind direction (fireworks smoke blowing towards the R&C). The chances of this being a problem is small. Also an outside table can only be requested, not guaranteed.

Congratulations of all of your celebrations! Not sure if you are planning on dining with the kids for your romantic dinner, but someone posted that their DH arranged a private dining experience at the GF. It sounded wonderful. DH and I were planning on celebrating our anniversary at the CG, but I am thinking of switching to this.
Here's the link (hope this works)

Best of luck to DH in Iraq and God Bless your family.

go to jiko in the animal kingdom lodge.. get the cucumber, tomatoe onion arugula and watermelon salad, filet mignon on top of homemade mac n cheese w/ a red wine reduction sauce, also the duck and pork rolls for app. are great.. over 8,000 bottles of african wines in the resturant. walls change colors suddenly... everything is wonderful

Thanks for the link, I will have to check it out. I just called and tried to get the res at CG and of course since it is this late in the game, they have nothing available. I couldn't make plans any earlier since his leave was just approved last week. I guess I will have to move on to another restaurant and hope that it can be just as romantic. I had my heart set....oh well. We are still together and in Disney...(and no, it was an adult only night for dinner)

I just checked out the link you provided 5DisneyNuts, oh my goodness, thank you SO much. That was the most awesome thing I've read all day, I was practically in tears reading all the wonderful ideas (sorry, these days are rough and my dh has been gone awhile, doesn't take much to make me cry). That is DEFINITELY the way I am going I think. I am actually going to call right this minute to see if it is too late. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I want this night to be so special that he thinks about it and it gets him through the 9 months he is away :cheer2:

We celebrated our honeymoon at Disney this past October and we had a wonderful and romantic dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. When my husband called and made the ADRs for the occasion he mentioned it was our honeymoon and this wasn't forgotten. Our waiter Said, went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful and romantic dinner. We had the most perfect seat that overlooked the park. There were also many other couples sharing a romantic evening together. At the end of our dinner, Said presented us with two toasting flutes that we'll have forever that said "Cinderella's Royal Table" - It was the perfect end to the perfect honeymoon.
