All my experiences with MS have been good so far, but this one was particularly good, or maybe it just feels that way because I was worried over it . We have a reservation for the first weekend in June that I needed to drop a day from. But I had borrowed points from 2010 to make the initial reservation, and wanted to make sure those points stayed in the ressie as we won't be going again in our 2009 UY. I knew that it was possible to take the dropped points from our 2009 UY so I could bank them, but I was still nervous as I haven't done it before and wasn't sure exactly how to word it to the rep. etc. . The woman I got was very nice, understood what I wanted (despite my convoluted explanation ) and set it all up for me. I checked on the website after I got off the phone and everything was the way it should be so I'm very happy .

This was my first time doing anything other than "routine" tranactions so now I don't feel like such a novice .

I believe you. I had read some posts here that made me a li'l nervous, however when I made my first reservation (actually 2 reservations at the same time), it was the MS rep that made the process very simple.

I had read that here along with some horror stories, and that's one of the reasons I was worried. The regular reservations have been with very nice reps, but have been very straight forward, so less chance of problems there. This one had the potential to go very wrong--I had visions of the whole reservation being lost and having to rebook somewhere else or something similar .

I have a Feb UY with 100 points. We bought the contract this year with all 2008 points available. They were banked before we closed on the contract, per our request. So, as of Feb 1, 2009, I should have 200 points. I booked 99 of those points for my friend and his family for a March trip. Then, I booked 76 points for a 4-night trip in June for our family. By my calculations, I would have 25 points to bank. After I checked airfare, I realized that I could save $200 if we went down a day early. I called MS to check the availability of a value studio at AKV. Unbelievably, it was available. It requires 19 points. The MS Advisor says, "Do we have your permission to borrow those points from your 2010 UY?" Uh....don't I have 25 points remaining in my 2009 UY? She put me on hold for about 5 minutes while she figured it out. All the while, my head is spinning because I have our next trip planned out to the exact point. No borrowing can occur!!! I need every 2010 point, all six remaining 2009 points and 99 of our 100 2011 points for our spring break 2010 vacation! Finally, she came back on the line and told me that I would not need to borrow any of my 2010 points. Phew! I am just glad I was actually listening to her and didn't just blurt out, "Sure, go ahead" when she asked about borrowing. Lesson to me: PAY ATTENTION! Sometimes, I get a little overwhelmed by the pixie dust!

I can totally see me doing something like that--having it all figured out beforehand, and then when I'm actually speaking to the rep saying yes automatically because I assume they're asking what I think they should be asking, rather than what they're actually saying (clear as mud? ).

She asked me twice, very clearly, if I wanted to cancel that night. Of course it was what I wanted, but for a split second I second-guessed myself .
