We just got back from a week's stay and I thought I would just give quick-and-dirty reviews of my meals while I can still remember them. I was not organized enough to take pictures of my meals so I hope these reviews aren't too boring .
This will just be a really fast overview!!
As an aside, this will probably be my last time using the Dining Plan... as a vegetarian I often wanted to make my meal out of appetizers/salads and sides and it was not possible with the Dining Plan. It has worked really well for us in the past but not so much (for me as a vegetarian) this time.
Pop Century Food Court
We stayed just one night at Pop before moving on to kidani and boardwalk so only had one fast meal here. I had the vegetable lo mein and it was surprisingly good. It wasn't gourmet by any means but was tasty, the veggies were fresh and crispy. The kids normally like to mooch my noodles but they found them too spicy. more for me!
I picked up some Divvies chocolate chip cookies here and they were soooo good!
Sanaa
I was really looking forward to this meal! However as mentioned above, the sides and appetizers looked more interesting to me then what I ended up getting. I went with the vegetarian sampler.. I could not decide which 2 out of 3 to choose so the waiter suggested I have all three and not have the rice. So I had the spinach with paneer cheese, the stewed lentils and the spicy cauliflower with tomato, onion etc. (My three year old told me everything I was eating "looked gross" )
I kind of wish I had gone with the rice instead of the cauliflower, it was a little too tomato-y for me. The spinach with paneer cheese was my favourite. The lentils were tasty but definitely needed the rice to make a more satisfying meal. I had the chai cream for dessert and it was sooo yummy but very rich and decadent!
I would definitely like to eat here again, but pay OOP and make a meal out of some of the yummy sides and appetizers instead of what I had.
Yak and Yeti counter service
I feel bad saying this because I am sure some people love it, but this meal was just gross to me. I had asked for the shrimp lo mein but made vegetarian and as far as I could see they just picked the shrimp out because it still tasted fishy to me. Besides that, the noodles were just mushy and gross looking. The Pop century noodles were waaaay better!
Boma
Boma is really a vegetarian's delight There were so many choices and they were all delicious. The chef walked me around the buffet and pointed out what was vegetarian. The butternut squash soup was so delicious. (My DD said it tasted like vanilla ice cream! It was more like dessert...) There was just so much to choose from for a vegetarian.. the Moroccan Couscous stands out in my mind, as well as the various dips and the yummy flat bread.. the mealie bread, fufu, pap and ??? (I can't remember the name but it was good, not sure what it was though!) .. the only thing I didn't like was the falafel, there was something not very good about it.
Will continue in the next post...
