Very Merry Christmas Party

Has anyone gone to the Very Merry Christmas Party the past couple of years? I had heard that long ago it was so crowded it wasn't worth it, but wondering if the situation is still the same.

We went 2 years ago and it was very crowded. Lines for everything. It wasn't worth it to us. It was magical to see it snow on Main Street I must admit. But that was the one highlight.

Are certain nights (Thursday/Friday) more crowded than others(Sunday/Tuesday)? There seems to be a split on how crowded and worth going it is. Maybe the day you go makes a difference? Anyone who has gone- what day of the week was it and how was it then?

We have gone the past 5 years on either Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. We never found it to be overcrowded. We always head to the back of the park first, it's empty back there. Get our picture taken first thing, no line. More people see the first parade, so that's the time to do other things. Then see the second parade later. There are people who enter the park and immediately find a spot for the first parade and sit for an hour. Watch the parade and then wonder why the rest of the park is crowded afterwards.

We've gone in 2000 and again this past Christmas in 2002. In 2000 we were there on the last night the party was held and it was on a Friday. This year we went on the next to last party night on Thursday. Both times we had early PSs in the park and were in the park when it "opened." Both times we headed straight to Fantasyland and had the place to ourselves for nearly an hour. We took our picture near Legend of the Lion King in 2000 and near Its A Small World in 2002, no waits. We love this party and have never encountered the problems some others have experienced. Perhaps its because we work from the back of the park, around past HM, and into Frontierland before heading to Main Street around 10:30 for the second parade, but we've always had near walk-ons for rides, and sat right on the curb in front of the Emporium for the second parade about a half hour before it starts. We did a couple of shows the first year, but really enjoy the rides, more, so we concentrated on those this past time. My DS (10) is already asking if we can do the party twice on our next trip!

We went last year on Tuesday December 10 and Friday December 13.



Before going for our trip I had read on the boards that some nights were quite packed. I was a bit apprehensive about going on a Friday, it worked out for the Friday that we went though.

The crowds were a bit lighter on the Tuesday but although a bit more crowded the crowds were very manageable on the Friday that we went.

We also got in line first thing for our pics. Our wait was about 10 minutes.

I'm sure that crowd size changes from year to year and day to day. Whichever day you decide to go, have fun!

We went 2 years ago for the first time and even though it was crowded we had a wonderful time. It was so magical with the snow on Main Street! The first thing we did was get in line for a picture. After doing that, we hit the rides in Tomorrowland and made our way over to the hot chocolate and cookies. If you've never been, I'd say go.
