Okay, we are going to be at Disney from Nov 14th to the 20th. I did not book any of the VMMCP - it is two nights while we are there - as my kids are 4 and 6 and normally are ready for bed between 8 and 9. As such, I didn't think we would get much out of it. Now I am wondering if I made a mistake, can anyone give me their thoughts on whether it is worth it - I mean it is probably at least 200 extra dollars.

Thanks for your input.

I would say no...
We attended a party last year and for the price you pay it was sooo not worth it. Especially since your kids will already be tired from being in the parks and their usual bed time is very near the start of the party. The lines were just as long for the rides as they are during the day. If you stay in MK until the "kick out" time of 7pm (when the party starts) there will already be "snow" falling on Main Street. Yes, the parade was great, but do I feel that it's worth $200? Not a chance. Especially since it's the same parade that is shown on television on Christmas morning.

If the price were lower I would certainly go again, but I just cannot justify what you "get for the money." And this is coming from someone who loves all things Disney and owns a giant Mickey collection.

Hope this helps-

We'll be there the same time as you! (Nov9-18) And grappling with the same questions. Should we... and when should we?

I took mine to the Pirate and Princess when they were 8 and 9 and they certainly loved it, but since we're travelling from EAST of Florida we gain an hour and a half. So 9 o'clock feels like 7:30. Maybe that makes a difference. I think we will prbably go, simply because spring is our normal time to go, so this may be a unique chance to do Christmas stuff like the MVMCP and the Osbourne lights.

Anyway...if you decide to go have a great time...maybe we'll see you in the hot cocoa line! :yay:

We are going to be there around the same time. We decided to go as it would be a "cheaper way of getting into the park for 8 hours". We are coming to Orlando to do some other things non-disney that we have never had a chance to do. (sea world, ice at gaylord palms, gatorland, universal)

But, I couldn't stand to be in Orlando without at least getting to MK!! So, when i realized that we could actually enter the park at 4pm on party nights I thought it woul be a great way to get to MK for a much lower price. We plan to lay low all day around FW and hopefully the younger one will take a nap, eat an early dinner and head over to MK right at 4pm and stay until close. We have hear that it is easy to get on rides etc...we are so excited!
We will definately enjoy the party atmosphere, but it's not our main reason for going.

I debated over this last year for MNSSHP and we ended up doing it. I was so glad we did as it was one of the highlights of the trip. My niece was 4, almost 5 at the time.

On the morning of the day of I let her sleep until she woke up. We then went over to DHS for a couple of hours and did what she was interested in. We came back to our resort in the early afternoon, had a swim and a nap and were at MK at 5:00 p.m.. We ended up being there until 11:30 p.m. and she had a blast! Crowds were very light and all the rides were walk on or less than a 10 min wait.

I did it last year with a 5 year old who is usually in bed by 8, and had a wonderful time. It was sooo worth the money. We loved it. The atmosphere is just something you cannot quantify or really even explain. It was just magical. We took a midday nap, and DD wh had just turned 5 weeks before was fine all the way through the fireworks and for a lttle while after. It rained on us so we chose not to do rides, but there is just something about being on Main street with all the snow and CM's in holiday gear. The parade and fireworks were great. We are going again this year and hoping for clear skies so we can get to everything.

We went when our kids were 2, 1 and 6 months and they were in awe of it all. We are going back again (military moves prevented going at the holidays again) this year the week of Tday and they are excited.
It was totally worth the money last time. I hope it is again this year.

I think it's a great party and if you can justify spending $200 when you might not stay that long and know ahead of time that you're okay with it, then by all means go. I suspect that however long you're there, you'll have a great time. I love being in the MK at night, but the big difference at MVMCP is that you'll see a parade and some shows you won't normally see. There's also "snow" on Main Street, but otherwise, it's not that different from doing EMH at the MK.

The first time we went my then five-year old stayed up until midnight. Last year, when he was six, he wanted to go back to the room by 7:30. We haven't taken our younger kids. Probably would if they were 5 or so, but they're only two.
