Very late check-in at BWV ... need advice

Hi -

We will be arriving at BWV next week. Our flight is not due to land until 10:30 PM ... even if we are on time, I don't think we will arrive before 11:30 PM.

Has anyone ever checked in this late ? I'm especially concerned about what to do if we are delayed. Should I call the front desk and let them know we will be late, or does it not matter ? Is the front desk even open 24 hrs. a day ?

If you have ever arrived very late, how was your room ? Did you feel like you just got whatever was left over or were you happy with the room assignment ? We are not really picky about our room ... we've been happy every time ! I was just curious about this and what other's experiences have been when checking in late !

Yes the front desk is staffed 24-7. I would call the front desk a day or two before your arrival, and re-confirm and tell them your flight is arriving late.

We had a late flight in during our October 2003 trip to BCV. I had called MS and asked them to note a late arrival on our reservation.

We arrived just after midnight and our check in was very smooth.

I received all of my room requests (quiet pool view, NS, ground floor).

For a minute I thought summerlover was me! Yes, that's me answering over there. No wait, maybe it's not me.

We also went Oct 2003, called MS and had them put in on the ressie and got all three of our requests (NS, ground floor, Luna Pool)

We also arrived just after midnight and check in was easy - we were the only ones there!

BUT - two things

There were no cars left at the airport for Alamo - we were told we had to wait up to 45 minutes for them to go offsite and get us a car - No way! I had a ressie for 6 months - I went to the office in the parking garage and started to complain. With 3 tired kids this was just appalling! We got an upgrade from a century to a lesabre out of it. DOn't let them tell you you have to wait.

AND - there were no - and I mean not even people leaving - parking spaces in the park it yourself lot at the BW. Be prepared to valet park.

I will try to never arrive so late again for those two reasons.

We arrived at BWV at 1 am after a 3-hour weather delay out of Chicago about 2 weeks ago. We had already noted a late arrival when we made a late change in our reservation (we had expected to arrive about 10 pm). We valet parked. Actually the valet both parked the car and delivered the luggage when we arrived at the room (and refused to accept a second tip after I had tipped him when he unloaded the car and gave me the claim checks for car and luggage). Room met our requests (non-smoking, near elevator) and was in excellent shape.

We have arrived after midnight several times with no problem. We neither had it noted on our reservation nor did we call ahead. But then, all we asked for was no smoking.

Be sure you call 1-2 day before you travel. We had a late check-in 3 years ago due to flight delays and we were not able to call. We arrived to the Contemporary @ 2:00 AM and everything was just fine. Our room was assigned and day or two before we even check in and all our special requests were met.

I think I will give MS a call Friday and have it noted on my reservation. Glad to hear you all were happy with the rooms at check-in ... I'm sure we will be, too ... we've only requested non-smoking.

kathleena - You brought up good points that I hadn't even thought about ! We have reserved a car using National's Emerald Aisle ... so I think that will be OK. If there aren't any cars left on the aisle, I think they will let us choose from another area. I'm OK with valet parking ... I think I would welcome it at that late hour with 2 tired kids in tow !
