I am looking for a site that has childrens books for $1.00 or less. Our schools PTA gives each child a book at the beginning and end of our 3 week PARP program. with over 600 students, this can cost us a small fortune.

Thanks for any suggestions!

You should be able to get discount books through one of the school book programs such as Scholastic.

The Scholastic Warehouse Sale is another option. Check out the Scholastic Website to find a sale near you!

For our PARP program, we invited Dave Adler ( I think that was the authors name) to do an assembly for us. He was terrific and brought with him one book for every child in the school - autographed too! I don't know what the his fee was, but maybe you can try that.

WOuld it be possible to do a "Salvation Army" used book? Theyre so outrageously CHEAP! Too bad it's not spring / summer - garage sales are good places to find books, too.

If you can use used books seek out a few large libraries for used books/book sales. Sure a few pages may need to be taped but you can usually get them at a good price. I pikced up some toddler/preschool aged books for $1 a piece at out University/City (they combined the too) library.

Or check out used book stores for some genly used books.

Maybe for a PARP activity, you can do a book swap. Ours was a big success. Kids will do anything to get out of class.

Okay, try this web site that is linked here
Book closeout
they often have books from $.19 and I have heard their shipping is pretty good. When you go to the website, click on children on the left column and then click books less than $1.00. Once you have the list, sort it by price and place your order. I hope this helps. :teeth:

Don't know if they are still in stock, but as of a couple of days ago, american girl had about a dozen Angelina Ballerina titles on clearance--.99 for hardbacks and .49 for paperbacks.

I agree with checking bookcloseouts. I got some great deals on kids' books for all our nieces and nephews for Christmas this year. Be sure to do an internet search for "book closeouts coupon code" to find a code for an extra amount off your order. I've ordered from them a couple of times, and there's been a discount code running each time.

Talk to a teacher. In every scholastic book order they send out, there is a page for teachers. Often it has lots of books for a dollar a book . They are sorted by age appropriateness, so you may want to talk to a few teachers of different grades if you are buying for multiple ages. If I remember correctly (from student teaching when I had to do the book orders all the time) they usually came in lots of 50 or 100.

In almost every issue to the children, there are some books on sale for a dollar too.

I have found really good deals at dollar stores. I also picked up a few at Target's 75% off dollar spot last night for my boys. I agree with asking teachers. My mom bought a lot of books from the points she had, and continutally added to her library for 5th grade.
