Very High Airline Rates Spring 2011

I have been looking at booking our Spring trip. I am shocked at that airline rates from Milwaukee to Orlando. They are almost 2X what I usually pay.

Ihave been flying to Orlando quite often. Is this an isolated issue from Milwaukee? Are all airline rates higher than normal for Spring 2011?

What dates?

Spring break time. It's hard to find decent airfare from mid-March to the end of April nowadays.

Yeah, I was going to say, we found great fares for May. We're going May 6-15th and we're paying $37/pp per way.

It is not isolated to Milwaukee. We got $260rt out of MSP for March 10-20. We bought right when flights came out on Airtran. The flight prices went way up the next day and have not come back down. Typically, spring break is closer to mid-April around here, so we were very surprised to see the high prices for mid-March.

Next question. Have you looked at car rental prices? They are way up too!

the fares from MKE have been crazy no matter what time. it is driving me insane. I am not currently planning a trip, but we are looking at fall 2011. might have to drive with 6 of us.

Yeah, they'll kill you on Spring Break. Although I'm noticing some general increases as well. Jumped on airfare for our trip to Orlando June 4th when Southwest opened up that window and paid $139/$159 (there/back) Checked today to see where prices were at for the same flight and it was $209/209. :)

I hear ya and feel the same way. We were looking at a spring break trip to Orlando and have nixed that idea due to airline prices. I hope it is not indicative of the future MKE market, or we won't be flying much!

The prices should fluctuate a bit depending on demand. Keep checking as you get 3 months away and see if some sales pop up.

Same here. I am flying out of Milwaukee for March 18 to 27 and booked soon after Airtran opened flights for March. I got $105 down and $127 back for non-stop flights. But they went higher than that almost immediately and have stayed up!

Airtran tends to run sales though so I'm still watching to see if there is an early January sale which might over my dates. I rarely have to pay $100 on Airtran to Orlando so I"m still hoping for decreases in price.
