I'm going to tear my hair out!
The place where I work has any number of MAJOR issues that have gone unaddressed for months. Added to that, most everyone has had their hours cut (except the pets who are working double shifts, while others are working 6 hours every two weeks). We're all feeling so pressed that we can only take care of urgent needs, so everything becomes a last-minute scramble while we lurch from crisis to crisis. EVERYTHING is just difficult to accomplish.
Earlier in the week, I made two major mistakes. My manager came to me (great guy) and basically said, "You aren't this dumb, what is going on?" I gave him the above speech and he totally agreed with me and he spent the next two hours talking to the Owner about the numerous issues. They came to a solution but it is going to take about 6 weeks to implement because the problems are so pervasive.
The Owner came to me and apologized and asked me to please bear with them while they try to work these things through.
And then today happened.
8 days ago I asked one person to arrange to have some things printed, I needed them this morning by 10:30. They were ordered yesterday afternoon. The person who was supposed to pick them up had never been asked to pick them up. She ran out to do that errand instead of helping me to work on the project with the 11:00 deadline.
The place didn't open until 10, the printing was not done so she had to wait for it to be finished. The other person who was supposed to help me was 10 minutes late. Then the Supervisor informed me that she was supposed to be working with him because no one told him she was going to be occupied with my project. I was able to "borrow" her for awhile because the other woman was still gone.
I needed 72 somethings and only had 64. Someone had borrowed some of my equipment, which I didn't know I wouldn't need until I had everything packed up and ready to go.
In the end, we were on time and everything went flawlessly. But the process of getting there made me want to burn the building down! And yet, I can't complain, can I? No, they understand they have problems and have asked me to "bear with them". Oh, I need a vacation...
