Very early AM car rental return -- where to get gas near MCO?

I have a 5 AM flight out of MCO when returning home. So I'll be looking for a gas station near MCO that is actually open at 2:30 or 3:00 AM, so I can top off the gas tank in the rental car I'll be returning. Anyone have a suggestion? Thank you!

In my experience if you fully top off the rental car at the gas station on property at Disney (Either the one at Disney Springs or the Speedway), it will stay on the “full” line for MCO which isn’t that far. You can do that the night before.

We like the “southern route” via 417 from WDW to MCO, and last week we got gas at the RaceTrac at 13891 Landstar Blvd, Orlando, FL 32824. It’s open 24 hours, according to Google Maps.

Agree. Just fill up the night before. You will be fine. And even they attempted to charge you $8 a gallon for a 1/2 gallon of gas it isn't much.

There is a gas station/service area at the south entrance to the airport. It's a Shell station at 10505 Jeff Fuqua Blvd, open 24 hours.
This is the one that we stop at. Just make sure that you get in the far left lane when you turn back onto the road. That rental car exit comes up quick after the gas station.

We have been going to wdw for many years and always get a rental car. We always brim the tank at disney springs and it's always been fine and still showing full on return to mco.

I always fill-up the night before we are departing. One less thing to do on departure day and avoids issues with finding an open station at some very early hour in perhaps a sketchy part of town. Generally you can drive 20 miles and the tank will still show full.

Shoot, you should be able to go 30-35 miles. Most cars will go that far on a gallon, and you're going to get close to a gallon extra if you "top up" the tank.

I have seen some on here claim their rental company has some other way to know if the tank if full or not. No idea if that is true, but 20 miles is a short enough distance that it shouldn't matter either way.

Alamo (who I use) just looks at the gas gauge when they check you in.

Same with Avis, just rented a car from them a couple of months ago when on vacation and they simply looked at the gas gauge when I returned the vehicle. Perhaps some other companies use a different method that I have seen others talk about on here, but not Avis. I ALWAYS get a receipt when returning the car which shows ending mileage/date & time of return as gas tank situation.

I will be renting the car at MCO and staying at AKL resort. There should not be too many tolls? Right? Not enough to bother with bringing a transponder? I'm more worried about forgetting it there and have to replace it for $20.:scared:

I don't recall which roads have tolls between MCO & Disney. I think there are prior threads that discuss that topic.

My SunPass account showed about $10 in tolls.

Tolls I believe are higher without it and not as convenient. You also don’t want them getting charged to the rental car as they will bill you for them and pass on another fee.

If you don’t want to bring your transponder with you they have $10 temp tags that you can rent at the airport
