The only real trouble we had throughout our stay with regard to our dining experiences was at the Maya Grill. In summary, the food and service was sub-par. Our waiter was uninformed and very inflexible; he couldn't answer questions asked about a few of the menu items, he was put-out by our request for bigger plates when he brought us what were best described as saucer-sized dishes for our shared entree... the entree was meant for 2 the "Fiesta..." and required use of 2 entitlements. WARNING: all versions of the restaurant menu that are out there are out-of-date, including the one on Disney's Official site. Our options were far more limited than expected. He was less than helpful when DH asked about covering this strangely placed up-light; it was literally at my husbands feet and as we conversed it would "poke" through. It was an uncomfortable distraction. When asked if there was any way to turn it off, the waiter replied with a slight attitude "the previous guests seated here just threw a napkin over it."
We should have known we were in trouble when the app brought out for my son had what appeared to be nothing more than cheez whiz as the main ingredient. I, however, held out hope thinking it was just part of the kids' menu. WRONG!
The sirloin tacos were tough and included over-cooked steak slices. The chicken tacos included less desirable cuts of chicken (dark meat that the DDs will not eat). The final nail in the coffin was when the fiesta was brought out and it was EXACTLY what is served as the fajita combo at our local Chili's restaurant, only a smaller portion. This was priced at $51. The high point of the meal were the chicken tenders my son had (for the 8th time of the trip). Maya Grill has great chicken tenders.
Lastly, I should mention that the atmosphere was very pleasant. The decor is lovely and they had musicians playing background music. However that alone couldn't salvage our experience. We will not return to the Maya Grill.
