we only have 100 point contract with an aug UY and go at the end of Jan

we bought in 2016 but weve been lucky that weve been able to get a week without borrowing points but that will come to an end
in 2027

but anyways looking at the DVC website and the how the rooms are listed most of the rooms are listed as tower with some
listed as deluxe studio resort view or deluxe studio preferred view
what happened to the standard view

I just put in dates in nov of 2025 just looking not sure how these dates compare to when we go in Jan
if this is how things are going to be well probabaly sell
since were not in the market to buy more points

and dont want to go every other year
are they any other optionsI
I know we could wait till the 7 month but usually since I keep checking theres nothing much open by that time

The 2026 point chart includes updates to the room category titles. In many cases, standard view was re-titled to resort view and lake view (in the case of BLT) was re-titled to preferred view.

thanks for the chart that was very interesting
but in doing the math going off of the chart
it looks like the new tower rooms are actually cheaper then what we were paying
for a deluxe studio

according to the chart like for 2025 trip were there from 1/21//1/28
so that would mean 17 points for the 5 weekday which equals 85 plus the 2 weekend days at 20x2 for 40 points which is 125 points which is what weve been paying

now going to the tower duo studio 5 weekend x14 is 70 while the 2 weekend is 32
so a total of 102
so wed save 23 points a year

which would be great as long as Im figuring this right
the webiste seems so confusing compared to the chart

Tower duo studio is not the same as a deluxe studio either in the tower or the longhouses - it’s more like a hotel room - there’s only 1 bed and no kitchenette…that’s why it’s less points.

You're comparing the wrong rooms. The Tower has a Duo Studio that the longhouses don't. It only sleeps 2 on a queen murphy bed, no other beds, quite a small room. That's why they cost less points. The Tower also has Deluxe Studios that are like the longhouse Studios but only sleep 4, but same idea as the Deluxe Studios. Points are the same for these.

actually I saw a video on you tube about the duo studio at the tower and there was a small kitchentte
the only big drawback I could see was the bed was in the wall so every night youd have to pull it up and down
it dosnt look like its a very big bed either

They’re not actually calling it a ‘kitchenette’ despite having a mini-fridge, coffee maker and microwave…maybe because there’s no sink?

I didn’t notice any change in points from 2025 to 2026.

January is the second lowest point season with a week in a standard (now resort) view studio costing 125 points. That is the same price it was in 2023.

I would not sell and if you don’t want to go every other year you could certainly rent out your points as Poly is a high demand location.

You can do split stays or you could stay for a couple of years at OKW (78 points) or AKL standard view (88 points) and bank those points for 2-3 years and then you would have enough to stay for length of stay at Poly on year 3 or 4.

The system always takes OTUP, banked and borrowed points first so for OKW:

Jan 2025 stay = 78 points and you bank 12
Jan 2026 stay =78 (112-78=34 points to bank)
January 2027 go to Poly, 125 points (134-125=9 points to bank)
January 2028 back to OKW 78 points (109-78=31 points to bank)
January 2029 go to Poly, 125 points (131-125=6 points to bank to 2030)

SSR is 99 points which is why it is not mentioned.

Edit: since you would be booking at 7 months out you could buy 24 OTUP forOKW and have 24 more to bank then. In that example you would have 136 points in Jan 26 and able to book Poly in Jan 26

I'm not sure you can say that it is similar to a hotel room (at least it's not similar to any regular hotel room I've been in). It has only one Murphy bed. It is cheap on points but also a quite unique experience.

I am a bit confused. You can’t book until the 7 month window so this must mean you own somewhere else. Why would you sell based on this resort if it is not your home resort and you have been using your points?

They have posted in other threads very similar to this one where they do own at PVB but are worried as they only have enough points for 6 of the 7 nights. OP was worried the PVB room would be gone for the last night before it was able to be booked at 7 months.

You’re lamenting losing something that wasn’t there to begin with.

In 2016 a week in Jan cost 118pts. Now it is 125pts.

Booking a week in Jan without borrowing on a 100pt contract was never possible.

If you were doing this calculation including OTUPs, all you would need to borrow is one point. That would take you 100 years to deplete before needing to skip even one year of vacation due to borrowing. With 40 years left, if you kept taking one point each year, you’d be able to continue on taking your normal trips for all but the last year. The last year… way out there in 2063… you’d need to cut just that trip by less than 50%.

Before selling you should look at the changes in full, including the decreases.

Standard view was renamed to Resort view.

So far the original longhouse availability still seems very strong. The new tower is tighter probably since it’s the hot new thing people want to try. Demand on the original longhouses at 11 months does not appear to have increased since the addition of the tower.

November is a more expensive point season. In 2016 was 130pts/wk, in 2021 it moved to Season 3 and 139pts, and kept moving and for 2025 it is 160pts. This is happening because Fall demand just keeps getting higher. It’s a super popular time to visit in recent years.

That stinks but increases cannot happen without decreases happening elsewhere.

Feb 1-15, May, June, July and Aug have all decreased in point cost. In 2016 they cost between 153pts to 169pts per week. Today they go as low as 125pts/wk and no higher than 146pts/wk.

The first 2 weeks of May would have cost 153pts in 2016. Now it’s only 125pts.

I’m not the OP but my interpretation of staying a week was 6 nights, 7 days. This is my preferred length of Sunday to Saturday and I think that is likely what worked for tbem?

Ah. We like to do that too, especially when weekends are a big bump up in points.

For chart purposes a week is 7 nights. They list a week as 7 nights, just like a calendar.

The January stay at 105pts can still work. Yes it would require borrowing, but only 5 pts. That could be done all the way out to 2046 without skipping a trip. OTUP is another option. Years that one of the first/last trip days is still open at 7 months, buying OTUP has the power to rebalance the account to full annual points again.
